My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive environment for those who have been marginalized because of their gender and sexuality. Perhaps you identify as queer,
bisexual
, lesbian, gay, pansexual, asexual, trans, nonbinary, agender, poly, kinky, something else, everything, and/or nothing at all. You deserve to have a space where you can explore the different parts of yourself without judgment. As a queer person who has sought out my own therapy, I know how difficult it can be to find an affirming therapist. Even if your identity isn’t central to your therapeutic goals, know that every part of you will be affirmed in our work.

My approach to supporting clients relies on the neurobiological and systemic processes at work when challenging and traumatic events occur. I have been providing therapy and coaching services in Colorado for over a decade and specialize in delivering therapeutic care to complex trauma survivors of all ages. I have extensive knowledge in working with those who have a desire to increase their ability to navigate and process traumatic experiences, connect more meaningfully with their loved ones, and be more present and satisfied in their lives. Trauma isolates us; I believe that connection is our most powerful tool to fight back.

I can support you in navigating your identity and self-worth to grow deeper, more meaningful connections with yourself and significant others. I am especially attuned to working with trans and queer clients, clients who identify as neurodivergent, and those who experience chronic illness. I pursued this work to provide supportive space for clients of marginalized identities to not have to over-explain or defend lived experience and values. You are the expert in your life and I am here to collaborate in accomplishing your best hopes for therapy.

None of us make it through life unscathed. We need someone to be present and listen, to help find solutions, to challenge our personal narratives and behaviors, and to walk with us through challenging times. I focus on creating a safe and warm space for self-discovery and to evaluate patterns of how one engages with self and others, to find new skills to cope with stress, to create a non-judgmental place for developing self-compassion and to meet your goals for change. If you are motivated for change, ready to explore your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviors, this might be the ideal time to seek therapy.

As a counselor, I guide you to make positive changes in a comfortable and safe space. I believe change happens when we are deeply connected to ourselves. Working with me will enable you to identify current triggers, implement healthy coping skills, and self-regulate moment by moment. We will work together to become your most whole self. Healing can be a challenging process, especially healing wounds in relationships with our past, our partner, our family, and even our self. It can be daunting if finding resolution feels lonely, too difficult, or overwhelming, leaving us feeling disconnected and discouraged. In our desperate search for solutions to deal with the interpersonal conflicts, trauma, grief, and other wounds within these relationships, we may do more damage than good. Thankfully, there's hope in that you have the power to change these circumstances.

No matter your challenge, the problem is not you; it's what your mind is doing. We all have mental habits that cause pain, hold us back, and prevent us from living our happiest life. Mindfulness-based therapy helps you get out from under those habits and create new ways of being that support sustainable happiness. I work with a wide range of issues, with an emphasis on people who feel anxiety or stress is sucking the joy out of life.

I enjoy helping clients to actualize their potential, find their voice, and manage their symptoms. How can I find a therapist in Capitol Hill, Denver?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
