I can support you if you’re wanting to live a more authentic, connected life, where you are living out of your personal code of ethics. It is my goal as a therapist to help bring you back to a felt sense of connection with your body. I specialize in working with teen and adult clients who are going through transitional phases, experiencing relationship issues, or are in need of processing some heavy life events. Therapy doesn’t exist in a vacuum. For those of us with marginalized identities, whether that be neurodivergence, chronic illness, or you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, I want you to feel seen and heard.

I specialize in couples therapy, adult, and adolescent individual therapy.
The world has become a stressful place and while it has always been stressful, we have less community and connection. These times have really put a strain on us as individuals, our relationships, our families, our jobs/school and created overwork, stress, and trauma. Honestly, doing healthy relationship and navigating stress and trauma are not skills we have been equipped with. Therapy has become the space to learn those skills, navigate stress, do self care, live presently in life, and process the trauma that's historical and present in our day to day.

I strive to understand my clients in all of their environments. I use the lens of family therapy. My approach is strength-based, trauma-informed and built upon establishing a trusting relationship. I work with caregiver(s) and their child(ren) to help resolve issues within the home and/or school setting. I am open to working with the caregiver alone to support in parenting and/or with the child/ teen to discover solutions which address obstacles to social emotional functioning such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and/or trauma through talk therapy (therapy dog optional), interactive social emotional learning, bibliotherapy, CBT & DBT.

I seek to enhance their brain/body connections to aid in healthy, autonomous development while healing from past traumatic experiences. My approach is very playful, child-directed, and trauma-informed. I am simply an instrument to help children unlock their unique gifts and potentials. Are you looking for a therapist who can help your child or teenager learn to manage their emotions instead of engaging in all-out temper tantrums? As a caregiver, are you wondering what the best approach is to manage these difficult moments and to deepen your relationship with your child at the same time? In a therapy session with me, your child will learn techniques to encourage self-awareness in order to prevent acting-out behavior and you will learn strategies to support your child on this journey. A typical therapy session may include play therapy, yoga poses, breathwork, and/or creative arts.

Some people have called me the teen whisperer. I have worked with kids for over 26 years in many different communities. I spent several years in Denver working with kids in the legal system or who had been expelled from school. The last 8 years I have been in a school counseling role. I am very passionate about helping teens find their way. These are rough years and today our kids are struggling more than ever with mental health. There is a lot of unresolved trauma and helping them unpack this can be so healing. I am also a cancer survivor and mother of 3 so I understand resilience and parenting.

With the teen years comes a delicate balance of navigating the safety of youth, with the exploration of independence.
Seeking out therapy can be incredibly difficult, and the fact that you are here means you are looking for transformative healing. We do the best we can with the information available to us. Sometimes, the way that we have handled challenges of the past, are no longer serving us. This is where I come in, to give you the tools to tackle challenges that are causing stress in your life. I want to walk beside you in a journey of self-discovery that helps you take back your life. We will create a space together in which no subject is too taboo, and I will accept you for exactly who you are.

This summer I will be offering psychotherapy with equine assistance for kids (individual and group treatment) ages 6-adolescents at Promise Ranch in Parker, CO. We also partner with additional farm animals! I work with children, adolescents and adults who are primarily dealing with anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Emotional health is as important as physical health. We work together to understand how to accomplish change. I work in medical and mental health settings with the belief that integrating feelings with appropriate behavior creates a more peaceful existence.

I love people and families. As a result, I love working with clients from 4 years of age, through childhood, adolescence, and with adult women. I enjoy working to build knowledge, coping strategies, family support, and stability in my clients/families as they deal with a variety of life challenges and mental health struggles. I believe that children and adolescents are amazingly creative and resilient and I strive to foster these traits as we face their mental health struggles together. And because I believe that the mothers also need support, encouragement and insightful care, I offer maternal mental health services as well.

I believe that curiosity heals, that healing comes from approaching our lives with greater openness & non-judgement. I work with individuals, intimate relationships, & families impacted by trauma, relationship issues, chronic illness, grief, & identity exploration. Using an adaptable, creative, direct approach, I support clients to gain deeper understanding, increase emotional regulation, & use more effective conflict management strategies. I believe that our world often makes it seem like we need to be fixed when really we need trust, connection, and tools to cultivate desired change within ourselves and our relationships.

Are you feeling disconnected from your body, partner(s), family, or sense of self? Are you wanting to respond to difficult situations rather than react? Are you experiencing high stress because your body, identities and/or partnerships disrupt harmful societal norms? Are you struggling with an inner critic at your job or in your relationships? Are you reassessing your relationship to alcohol or other substances? Have you had traumatic past experiences that you feel ready to confront but are afraid to do so alone? If any of these questions reflect your current experience, I can support you in making lasting change.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
