You're tired of pretending to be happy-go-lucky and upbeat while on the inside you feel like crying. But performing happiness has become the go-to, both to keep others off your back and to try to convince yourself that things are OK, even though they are not. But it doesn't make you feel less alone, or less unsure of where your life is going. You wish you didn't have to perform, that you could find someone who really gets you and accepts you without forcing you to change who you are. The self-critical thoughts shoot down the idea the second you start to imagine it, though, just like they shoot down a lot of other ideas.

Currently accepting virtual clients - Hi there! My therapeutic approach is to show up through a relational lens where what matters most is genuine and safe connection. Our stories contain both what happens to us that is outside of our control and how we respond to these experiences that is within our control. As your therapist, my hope is to empower you to choose how you respond and become the author of your own story. It's important to me to provide you with the support, guidance, and resources you need to pick up the pen and decide where you're going next.

Hi there! My name is Hayden and I’m a therapist and licensed clinical social worker dedicated to supporting the LGBTQI+ community, millennials, and young adults. Whether you’re navigating identities, neurodiversity, exploring gender, living with depression or anxiety, or going through life transitions, I’m here to support you. I best serve clients looking to explore who they are, how they relate to the world, and how their emotional experience relates to those things. Anxiety, depression, discomfort, and fear are all part of our lives and absolutely essential. I also work well with clients who are open to a mix of a bit of processing, a bit of skills work, a bit of somatic work, and a bit of creative integrative work. You are more than one aspect of your experience!

hey y'all, I'm Avery! I am passionate about supporting LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and ethically non-monogamous folks in embracing their authentic selves and building practical skills for self advocacy and cultivating calmness in this not so calm world. My clients often find themselves in periods of transitions, feeling misunderstood, and navigating challenges with how they relate to themselves and others. You may be struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and pressure from societal “shoulds”. Perhaps you are hoping to heal from trauma but unsure of where to begin. I am here to build a space with you where you can feel it all.

Are you feeling disconnected from yourself or from what truly matters to you? Perhaps you’re moving through a life transition that has stirred deeper questions about who you are, how you’ve changed, and what you want moving forward. Even when life looks full on the outside, there can be a quiet sense of emptiness, longing, or misalignment, as though parts of you have been set aside or are asking to be heard. Many of the people I work with are navigating transitions across the lifespan, from early adulthood shifts to midlife changes, evolving relationships, health concerns, or questions of purpose and identity.

“If you don't become the ocean, you'll be seasick every day.” – Leonard Cohen. Life asks a lot of us. We’re constantly navigating waves: expectations, emotions, relationships, the pressure to hold it all together. Maybe you find yourself getting swept up or constantly bracing for impact. But change isn’t about learning to fight the tide; it’s about remembering you are the tide. That doesn’t mean passivity, it means using your agency effectively. Therapy can be a space to reconnect with the deeper currents within yourself and build trust in your ability to ebb, flow, rest, and rise with strength.

Life has a way of living in the body — in tight chests, racing thoughts, restless energy, numbness, or that feeling of being “on” all the time even when you're exhausted. Stress, trauma, grief, and constant doing can pull you away from your inner world, your intuition, and your sense of self. Therapy is a space to slow down, breathe again, and reconnect with what’s happening inside, not just what you're managing on the outside. At the same time, growth doesn’t have to be stiff or overly serious. I believe in making space for humor, creativity, and the real, imperfect, human parts of you.

United Medical Resources (UMR) Therapists
Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
