Not Accepting New Clients Not afraid of humor as well as difficult feelings, I work with people who want to get back in touch with what's most important to them to feel more connected to themselves and others. I love helping people identify their "Why bother?" such as "Why bother with trying to work less, exercise more, drink less, or feel feelings more?" Negative thinking, anxiety, and increased drinking and other behaviors can be invitations to re-evaluate if you're pursuing the kind of life you desire. I'm here to help you get to the root of symptoms, understand and get past avoidance, clarify values, and celebrate progress!

For those living with anxiety and/or the aftermath of past traumas, talk therapy alone has limitations.
My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, improve your relationship, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you.

I offer individuals and couples support in developing a better relationship with themselves, practicing healthy communication, managing life transitions, improving self-esteem, coping with stress and exploring what feeds anxiety, depression and unhealthy relationships. I feel change is often the result of having the courage to practice self-awareness with less judgment, self-acceptance and self-love. I see therapy as an opportunity to create a working relationship with your whole self, challenging defeating self-talk and destructive narratives of “I’m not enough,” and establishing a new foundation of self-worth to grow from.

Some of the challenges I've successfully helped my clients with include: Depression, Anxiety, and Mood disorders (both adult and children) Parenting Challenges - challenging children, childhood disorders, Bi-polar, Asperger's, ADHA, trauma, and developmental transitions.
If you're reading this right now, it's likely you or a loved one are facing challenges, considering changes, or need direction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist for more than 13 years, I've learned two things. First, everyone wants and deserves to live happily ever after. Second, living happily ever isn't easy and, sometimes, requires professional help. I believe in happily ever after. My practice is devoted to helping adults, children, families, and couples discover and use their talents and strengths to find and live happier, more fulfilling lives.

Life often presents us with challenges that can make it difficult to find a way back to overall wellness. People enter therapy for a variety of reasons. Maybe you have lost a loved one or a life transition has caused anxiety and stress. Perhaps you or someone you know is struggling with addiction. You might be having a difficult time with self-confidence or depression. Developing skills to find healthy balance within ourselves and with others is needed for stability and happiness.

I offer support and hope for women as they travel through life's many transitions including: adjusting to college lie, pregnancy, motherhood, relationship challenges, anxiety, panic attacks and healing from past trauma and abuse.
Now Accepting NEW Clients. I work with adult children, partners and siblings of individuals with Narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorder traits. It can be difficult to find a therapist who truly understand the impact and wounds of being raised in a home or being in a relationship with someone who has narcissistic and borderline traits. My work includes creating a healthy psychological separation, changing the negative internal messages, learning how to respond to others, creating healthy boundaries, stopping the legacy of distorted love and becoming your true and authentic self.

I work alongside adults and adolescents overcoming obstacles from trauma, unexpected events, life transitions, anxiety, and depression which affects our relationships with self and others.
Unexpected wrinkles can surprise and derail us in our lives. These events can leave us with big emotions that can disorient, leaving us confused, dejected, and helpless with more questions than answers. These emotions can lead to further negative thoughts and overwhelming emotions leaving us feeling stuck. I can come alongside with encouragement, support, and skills to move toward the changes you desire. I look forward to partnering with you to identify changes, empower you, and celebrate with you.

If you've been contemplating counseling, now is the time! As a Christian Therapist, I believe that God desires so much more for us than we are currently experiencing. If you're feeling heavy, life can be lighter. If you're struggling to see change in your life, a new more peaceful life is possible. Your desires, goals and dreams for life are not selfish, and I believe that Christ calls us to live life to the full. If your life does not feel "full", change is possible. You were meant for more.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
