Humans are complex, so I look at the whole person, including your environment and experiences, when treating anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health issues. I often guide clients in exploring their identities, values, and beliefs so you can build self-worth, set boundaries that improve relationships, and make authentic decisions. We work together to set goals for counseling, process what you have been experiencing, and recognize and develop the strengths and supports that can get you to a place that feels better.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been carrying anxiety, past trauma, or emotional pain on your own for so long. You might feel stuck in patterns, unsure how to move forward, or simply exhausted from trying to manage it all. You don’t have to do this alone. Therapy can offer a safe, supportive space to process your experiences, better understand yourself, and begin creating meaningful change so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.

You’re successful on the outside—but internally, things feel harder than they should. Anxiety, ADHD, perfectionism, OCD, or relationship struggles can leave even high-performing individuals and couples feeling stuck and exhausted. For high-performing couples, unrest, betrayal, broken trust, or uncertainty about whether to stay or leave a relationship can feel especially overwhelming when so much is at stake. I work with professionals, executives, and high achievers—individually and in couples therapy—who are used to handling things on their own and want more than a place to talk—they want clarity, direction, and real change.

You feel like your emotions control you, not the other way around. Maybe you grew up with parents who dismissed your feelings, made you feel like you were "too much," or left you walking on eggshells. Now, you struggle with guilt, setting boundaries, or trusting yourself. You don’t want to stay stuck in old patterns, but change feels overwhelming. I help adults untangle complicated emotions and family dynamics using trauma-informed DBT. Together, we’ll build the skills to regulate emotions, break unhealthy cycles, and create a life that feels like your own.

No matter how heavy the path feels right now—whether you're struggling in your relationship or trying to heal from the past, my goal is to provide a space where you feel truly heard and deeply supported. I combine my clinical training with a compassionate heart, ensuring you have both the professional tools and the emotional safety you need to move forward. In addition to traditional talk therapy, you may be working with intuitive horses in the peaceful Black Forest, expressing the unspoken through art, or finding a new rhythm together on the dance floor. These allow us to move beyond words and into the heart of your healing.

My name is Michelle Wright and I am the owner of Beacon of Hope Counseling, LLC. My past experiences and hope to help others led me to the field of counseling and creating Beacon of Hope Counseling. I have learned through the years life is filled with joyous moments and then periods of difficulty and uncertainty. When experiencing life's barriers one can feel anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, depressed and even hopeless. Past events and trauma can also become barriers in us being our best selves. In these moments counseling can be helpful in gaining insight and learning ways to best cope.

Identity formation, women's issues and growth in relationships and career are all things we will dive into.
“I feel like everyone else has their life figured out, and I’m just stumbling in the dark.” “I’m drained from trying to meet everyone else’s expectations while neglecting my own needs.” “I’m unsure of who I am and afraid to express my true feelings.” My goal is to help you live a fulfilling life while embracing your unique strengths. My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy. I am currently an intern working toward my LMFT license.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
