Humans are complex, so I look at the whole person, including your environment and experiences, when treating anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health issues. I often guide clients in exploring their identities, values, and beliefs so you can build self-worth, set boundaries that improve relationships, and make authentic decisions. We work together to set goals for counseling, process what you have been experiencing, and recognize and develop the strengths and supports that can get you to a place that feels better.

My specialties include individual therapy, parenting support, child therapy, and family therapy.
Before I became a therapist, I spent over 20 years working with at-risk children and families around the world. I have sat with individuals in some of the hardest circumstances imaginable, and watched them find their footing. That experience has allowed me to hold hope in the room for many people, children, and families. I specialize in individual, teen, and child therapy. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am a certified Theraplay practitioner, with additional training in Sand Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Attachment-Based Focused Family.

I work with families of children who are struggling with sensory processing, self-regulation, meltdowns, fine motor challenges, or school readiness and whose parents are exhausted from trying to figure it out without enough support or guidance.
I'm a licensed OT and Certified Autism Specialist with 11 years in sensory clinics, schools, and early intervention. I also have sensory processing, auditory processing, and executive functioning differences myself. I was evaluated as a child, identified as gifted, and never supported. I know this gap from both sides.

Modern life can leave us stressed out, disconnected from each other, and disconnected from ourselves. Human beings have an incredible capacity for adaptation and growth. I believe that therapy is an effective way to tap into the resiliency for which we are all capable. Everyone experiences life’s up and downs, which can include trauma, difficulty adjusting, trouble in interpersonal relationships, mood regulation, self-destructive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and many others.

I provide an approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. My focus is on how trauma and anxiety show up in your body, helping you release the tension that words alone sometimes can't tackle. If you’ve been feeling held back by challenges or overwhelm, you deserve a space where you can express yourself, learn coping strategies for anxiety, and get support to process your trauma. Your healing is about building resilience and rediscovering your sense of safety, power, and fulfillment. Together, we'll work towards building a life that feels more easeful and embodied.

I want to be most helpful to people in relationship with one another, whether that is in a family or a couple. Humans are relational beings and when our closest relationships are not healthy it can effect every aspect of our lives. I work with couples who want to find what was lost, repair deep pain or hurt, or learn how to better understand each other's needs and how to communicate with one another. I work with individual clients as well who want to learn more about themselves and how they can gain mastery over the circumstances of life that have weighed them down. We all want to feel seen and heard by our loved ones.

The people I work with are self-aware, high-functioning, and quietly carrying more than anyone around them sees. They have often spent years holding relationships together, managing difficult dynamics, or simply pushing through—until pushing through stops working. Many arrive navigating the weight of chronic stress, fractured relationships, or the lasting effects of narcissistic or emotionally unstable environments. They already know something needs to shift, and that awareness is everything. I create a space that meets clients where they are, supporting change that's meaningful and made to last.

I am a therapist and psychologist speaking both English and Mandarin Chinese. I strive to help children, adolescents, and adults achieve their goals and be happy with who they are. I have helped many families with IEP-related evaluations and issues, including learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. You identify what you need, I will help you get there.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand—whether that’s anxiety that won’t quiet, self-criticism that feels relentless, or relationship dynamics that repeat despite efforts to change them. I work with individuals and couples in Parker, Colorado who want to better understand themselves and their relationships. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore these patterns with curiosity, and begin developing more secure and compassionate ways of relating.

Hi, I’m Sarah. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming - especially if you’re carrying trauma, relationship stress, or years of “holding it together.” I offer trauma-informed therapy for adults and couples in-person in Asheville and throughout the state of North Carolina virtually - grounded in EMDR and relational work that goes beyond surface-level coping. My approach is warm, direct, and deeply attuned, with space to slow down, understand what’s really happening beneath the symptoms, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I firmly believe that every person is extraordinary, and has a path to travel; they are the experts in their own lives. Openly promote collaboration, problem-solving, and acceptance. Help and guidance is provided to problem-solve and make positive changes to improve situations and lives as well as assistance children with attachment-related symptoms. I am currently offering virtual and phone sessions for all clients (Doxy). Research shows they can be just as effective as in-person appointments.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
