Helping people quiet the "food noise" and make peace with their bodies is my goal; I want to help you live with less food stress- eating isn't meant to be so complicated. Treating disordered eating and body image concerns has been my career: I’ve worked in mental health since 2012, with over a decade in eating disorder treatment. I have additional experience with individuals and couples, men in addiction recovery, families transitioning out of homelessness, refugees and kids. Currently I’m working on my PhD with research interests in GLP-1 use and mental health, eating disorders in men, and clinical supervision.

I love working with kids and teens and often see couples.
Starting therapy with a new person can be intimidating and confusing. When I see a client for the first time, the most important thing that I want to talk about is what is important to you and what you would like to accomplish. I am devoted to this process and strive to be warm and approachable.

Navigating life in a world that feels like it’s on fire? The state of the world today is enough to make anyone feel unsteady. If you’re struggling to process the weight of global events, personal trauma, or just the everyday stress of surviving in a world that often feels too much—I get it. My goal is to help you process, heal, and move forward in a way that feels authentic to you, not just what others expect from you. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s figure it out—together. Life is complicated and I want to help you navigate it in a healthy way. No BS, just authenticity.

I believe that you are capable. You are able to fight for yourself and your family. Part of this fighting may include overcoming your own fears, doubts, or anxiety. Counseling is an excellent tool to have when life starts to get a little more overwhelming than usual. I aim to support my clients as they pursue mental and emotional health. This includes taking inventory of their whole life and identifying areas that could benefit from a little attention. Feeling grounded and healthy is a feeling worth pursuing.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
