Hello, my work specializes in trauma informed care and spiritually focused counseling.
Spiritual counseling shifts allegiance from the exhaustive world of self to the world of spirit. Working to release the bondage of conditioned ideas of "me" by accessing the knowing of the soul and divinity of one's Being. This work attends to wounds, traumas and negative core beliefs through the lens of only one calamity: the denial of one's divine nature.

Many of my clients have started therapy because they want to have relief from depression, anxiety, insecurity, pain in current or past relationships, or trauma.
In therapy, I will be present and focused. You will be truly seen and heard. You'll be safe, respected, cared for, and supported to reach the goals you set. I have expertise in helping you identify the experiences that have shaped you. I also have expertise in trauma and attachment injuries. When we address the stuck pain, then we see symptoms abate.

In the course of being human, we all face losses and traumas of different degrees and in the process, find ourselves abandoning parts of ourselves in order to survive emotionally and interpersonally.
I have been trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR (for trauma), AEDP, and most recently, Compassionate Inquiry; I also have a strong orientation towards mindfulness. These are the primary tools I use when partnering with clients to heal their traumas, developmental wounds, addictions, and relationship injuries. My learning is ongoing.

I have a passion for working with youth; most of my clients are aged 5-35 struggling with history of trauma, frequent anxiety, and difficulties with regulating emotions and/or behaviors.
I focus strongly on CBT, or how behaviors, thoughts, and feelings interact and affect each other, as well as EMDR which allows the brain's natural healing processes to work on past traumas. Interested in a different approach? I am frequently seeking new trainings and methods to meet clients' needs!

Do you ever find yourself questioning if there is more to life, going through a life transition, or simply not feeling quite like yourself? You are not alone. These feelings are a natural part of being human, and there are times when we all need some extra support in our lives. I firmly believe that healing is attainable for those who have the desire, the necessary support, and the willingness to actively engage in their path towards well-being. Life presents us with various chances to explore ourselves and evolve through our encounters.

I support both individuals and couples through trauma, spiritual inquiry, and chronic illness.
You're searching for a way home to yourself, but you're not even sure who that is. Maybe you're carrying patterns that no longer serve you or questioning who you are beneath the roles you've been taught to play. You might be navigating a life transition, wrestling with questions of meaning and purpose, or feeling disconnected from your own authenticity. Maybe traditional therapy hasn't always honored the fullness of who you are and you're looking for something deeper. Enter Nostoura.

Sometimes it’s trauma.
I enjoy working with couples. I just find the nuance of how two people figure out how to go through life together fascinating. It’s a set up from the beginning because one’s sexual partner is also one’s financial partner. Tension in one area will naturally boil over into other areas. And then it’s on.

My work focuses on a variety of issues: addiction, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and gender identity, just to name a few.
Starting therapy is similar to starting with a new doctor. My initial meeting is used to gather information about your history, determine what you believe the problem is, and help you identify your short- and long-term goals.

I am originally from the UK where I worked with children and young adults in the foster care system who had experienced complex trauma, alongside supporting their carers.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and strength-based, recognizing each person's journey as unique and so adapting my style to work on the individual's need. I most commonly use DBT as a therapeutic tool, along with trauma-informed practice, positive psychology, mindfulness, art-based interventions, and family systems.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
