I use an integrative, person-centered approach that draws from trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and relational therapies.
You're searching for a way home to yourself, but you're not even sure who that is. Maybe you're carrying patterns that no longer serve you or questioning who you are beneath the roles you've been taught to play. You might be navigating a life transition, wrestling with questions of meaning and purpose, or feeling disconnected from your own authenticity. Maybe traditional therapy hasn't always honored the fullness of who you are and you're looking for something deeper. Enter Nostoura.

Some of life's dilemmas require a conversation to resolve. A conversation that weaves past and present, fantasy and reality, desire and inhibition to form a detailed understanding of one's life. An understanding that allows us to think decisions through so we can decide what we want and how to go about getting there. This often starts with a stronger ability to say no to what we don’t want, but then transforms into a confidence to say yes to what we do want. Sometimes it’s trauma. Sometimes it’s how we think and feel. Sometimes it’s just putting ourselves last through self-destructive behavior.

My ideal client is someone impacted by the hard things life throws at you. Who is ready to define their own goals and move at a pace that feels safe and empowering to them. They want support that honors their voice, builds on their strengths, and helps them focus on what matters most, whether that is healing, rebuilding relationships or creating stability.

Why counseling? Maybe you're scared, anxious, and demoralized because you've been victimized. Maybe you're at a point in life where what you're doing, thinking and feeling is not working. Maybe you're depressed about a troubled relationship or the loss of a loved one. Maybe you're frustrated because your children just don't seem to get it. Maybe you're angry, and hurt because others are taking advantage of you. Maybe you're level of confidence has decreased. Maybe you're feeling hopeless because you think there's nothing you can do to make the situation any better.

Navigating change can be frustrating and scary. I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment to discuss life transitions including: conflict, job adjustments, medical concerns, and grief and trauma. My goal is to help clients decrease suffering through a strong therapeutic relationship. I came to the mental health field to support children and families with neurodevelopment differences, i.e. Aspergers, ADHD, Learning Differences. Since then my work has evolved to understand how trauma impacts individual perspectives. I utilize an eclectic range of techniques to give clients a different way to understand their "truth".

Picking a psychotherapist you trust can be difficult. People who are seeking help have been hurt. Often times, sought out help in the past and have been hurt as well. I see it being hard to live this life without sustaining some sort of injury. In this way, we can all use help. We are all different in how we interpret the world around us. Reasonably, your therapy (help) matches this belief, you are unique and how you'll be helped will also be unique. Having someone not attached to the events of your life can facilitate new meaning and in turn, new choices as to how to see life now, historic injuries and where you want to go next.

I integrate CBT, attachment-based, somatic, and psychodynamic approaches to reduce emotional reactivity and build coping skills.
My ideal client is an adult struggling with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, attachment wounds, grief, or major life transitions. They may feel overwhelmed by intrusive memories, emotional triggers, burnout, or relationship stress. Some are military, single parents, blended families, parenting adult children, or Christian ministry leaders navigating spiritual leadership pressure. Many want trauma therapy that helps them build emotional regulation, resilience, and lasting peace.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been carrying anxiety, past trauma, or emotional pain on your own for so long. You might feel stuck in patterns, unsure how to move forward, or simply exhausted from trying to manage it all. You don’t have to do this alone. Therapy can offer a safe, supportive space to process your experiences, better understand yourself, and begin creating meaningful change so you can feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.

Looking for new direction, a perspective shift, or in need of more self-love? I work with people ready to unlock and reveal their innate wisdom and capacity for self-compassion. As a transpersonal therapist, I view therapy as a holistic healing container, in which I am a fellow traveler on the path to wholeness. Navigating my own life challenges has awakened trust in our inherent ability to transform the mud of life into the lotus of understanding and joy. My approach is experiential, integrating mindfulness, meditation, somatic approaches, and meeting each client exactly where they are with acceptance and care.

We have all experienced various levels of loss, harm or violation in our lives and this will have an effect on us. Are you experiencing disordered eating, unwanted sexual behavior, depression, anxiety, anger or turning to substances for relief? Often people feel a pain inside they are unable to understand or articulate. Perhaps you're frustrated and beginning to feel hopeless or helpless to change. Transformation and change is possible but it is a process, not an event. Research shows that finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important factors in having a transformative experience in therapy.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
