My top modalities are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems ( IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and somatic trauma release.
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or the lingering effects of trauma? Do you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself and others? You're not alone. Imagine a fly beating itself against a window. It thinks if it just tries harder it can reach the light, achieve freedom, but no matter how hard it tries it can't escape. The sad part of this story is there is an open door right behind it. My job is to show you the skills and steps to turn around and find the doorway to freedom from the stuck places our nervous systems have been locked into.

I have been trained in Internal Family Systems ( IFS), EMDR (for trauma), AEDP, and most recently, Compassionate Inquiry; I also have a strong orientation towards mindfulness.
Look at birds: they make great sky circles of their freedom. How do they learn to do that? They fall, and in falling, they are given wings. -Rumi ...In the course of being human, we all face losses and traumas of different degrees and in the process, find ourselves abandoning parts of ourselves in order to survive emotionally and interpersonally. Therapy is about reclaiming those parts and finding our way home to who we truly are.

Humans are complex, so I look at the whole person, including your environment and experiences, when treating anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health issues. I often guide clients in exploring their identities, values, and beliefs so you can build self-worth, set boundaries that improve relationships, and make authentic decisions. We work together to set goals for counseling, process what you have been experiencing, and recognize and develop the strengths and supports that can get you to a place that feels better.

Coping with trauma, whether from past experiences or the demands of your career, can feel overwhelming. Especially when those around you don’t fully understand. As a former firefighter-EMT, I understand the realities of high-stress careers and the toll they take. If you’re a first responder, medical professional, or someone who has faced deep emotional wounds, the impact of constant exposure to trauma can leave you feeling drained, disconnected, and unsure of how to navigate the road to healing. You deserve support that acknowledges your unique challenges.

As a therapist, my greatest joys are listening to my clients' stories and helping them nurture their inner resilience. I believe that all of us have the capacity to heal through self-compassion, kindness, and community. My goals are to create a partnership that helps my clients feel seen, to have meaningful and difficult conversations, and to encourage our natural ability to create hope and safety within ourselves, even on our hardest days. I have been a school counselor for 7 years, so I enjoy working with teens 13 and up. I also work with adult clients. I welcome individuals of all identities.

I approach my work from an attachment based philosophy and draw heavily from an IFS framework.
"My relationships are breaking down." "I feel my bond with my children is slipping." "No one truly understands me, and my feelings seem dismissed." "I am constantly angry and unsure why." "My child feels insecure, lashes out, and seems angry with me, maybe I’m to blame." Feeling disconnected from the people you care about can be overwhelming and scary.

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
