Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or the lingering effects of trauma? Do you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself and others? You're not alone.
Imagine a fly beating itself against a window. It thinks if it just tries harder it can reach the light, achieve freedom, but no matter how hard it tries it can't escape. The sad part of this story is there is an open door right behind it.
My job is to show you the skills and steps to turn around and find the doorway to freedom from the stuck places our nervous systems have been locked into.

I am trained in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing.
Spiritual counseling shifts allegiance from the exhaustive world of self to the world of spirit. Working to release the bondage of conditioned ideas of "me" by accessing the knowing of the soul and divinity of one's Being. This work attends to wounds, traumas and negative core beliefs through the lens of only one calamity: the denial of one's divine nature.

I love working with a diversity of clients. Many of my clients have started therapy because they want to have relief from depression, anxiety, insecurity, pain in current or past relationships, or trauma. I work well with people who want to be curious about their past, patterns, strengths, symptoms, survival strategies, and complexities.
I have noticed that I often work with people who want to investigate their worldview and patterns from multiple perspectives. They're open to -even if it's new at first- being both analytical and body-centered to learn more about themselves both by thinking and by feeling.

I focus strongly on CBT, or how behaviors, thoughts, and feelings interact and affect each other, as well as EMDR which allows the brain's natural healing processes to work on past traumas.
The idea of finding a therapist can be daunting, especially for those who are already feeling overwhelmed. I take a low pressure approach that allows for safety while we build trust. I have a passion for working with youth; most of my clients are aged 5-35 struggling with history of trauma, frequent anxiety, and difficulties with regulating emotions and/or behaviors. That being said, I’ve recently done some wonderful work with older adults as well. I am especially passionate about helping individuals who have had difficulty enjoying therapy previously, as I believe sessions should typically feel empowering rather than upsetting.

I have been trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR (for trauma), AEDP, and most recently, Compassionate Inquiry; I also have a strong orientation towards mindfulness.
Look at birds: they make great sky circles of their freedom. How do they learn to do that? They fall, and in falling, they are given wings. -Rumi ...In the course of being human, we all face losses and traumas of different degrees and in the process, find ourselves abandoning parts of ourselves in order to survive emotionally and interpersonally. Therapy is about reclaiming those parts and finding our way home to who we truly are.

Some of life's dilemmas require a conversation to resolve. A conversation that weaves past and present, fantasy and reality, desire and inhibition to form a detailed understanding of one's life. An understanding that allows us to think decisions through so we can decide what we want and how to go about getting there. This often starts with a stronger ability to say no to what we don’t want, but then transforms into a confidence to say yes to what we do want. Sometimes it’s trauma. Sometimes it’s how we think and feel. Sometimes it’s just putting ourselves last through self-destructive behavior.

Do you ever find yourself questioning if there is more to life, going through a life transition, or simply not feeling quite like yourself? You are not alone. These feelings are a natural part of being human, and there are times when we all need some extra support in our lives. I firmly believe that healing is attainable for those who have the desire, the necessary support, and the willingness to actively engage in their path towards well-being. Life presents us with various chances to explore ourselves and evolve through our encounters.

Because I have personally and professionally experienced the power of the brain to heal itself, I offer Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) therapy.
You have tried to change. You grit your teeth and power through. You convince yourself that you are “fine”, but honestly, everything feels as crappy as it did before. You want to be and behave differently…what if all you need is a little guidance? What if your brain and body could do what they were designed to do…and healed themselves? You might have found this page and this profile with a head and heart full of doubt and you’re wondering if therapy is total bunk. I hear you. It can certainly seem that way, sometimes...but what if it’s not?

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
