If you’re reading this, chances are you’re going through something difficult - and I want to start by saying you don’t have to navigate it alone. Odds are, you’ve been trying to manage things on your own for quite some time. Reaching out for therapy can feel like a huge step, especially when you're struggling. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, or just feeling lost - it’s okay to feel unsure. What matters is that you’re considering this step toward healing, growth, and change - and that in itself is a courageous decision.

Are you experiencing grief from a loss in your life? Do you sometimes wonder where to turn? I am committed to creating an environment that is safe and supportive allowing you to achieve your goals. Doing this type of work is important to me, because I believe, as Ralph Waldo Emerson said; "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." We all have hurdles, my client's tell their story, then discover their truth, allowing clarity behind what really happened and how to move successfully through life and grief.

If you have reached the point where you'd like to take back your life and you are looking for outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, codependency treatment, an intervention for a loved one, or relapse prevention therapy; I can help.
Since you are seeking help, you clearly want things to be different in your life but you may not know where to start. I can help you learn tools and strategies to overcome substance abuse, addiction, codependency issues, depression, or anxiety issues and support you in learning and practicing the skills you need to stay on your new path. While the idea of overcoming substance abuse, addiction, codependency, depression, or anxiety issues may feel overwhelming, it is possible. I understand that it can be intimidating to ask for help: I agree to walk beside you every step of the way.

Have you ever thought, “What the heck am I doing?” Maybe the better question is, “WHY am I doing this?” Together, we’ll get curious about the deeper motivations behind your actions and beliefs—shining a light on what might be keeping you from living the life you truly want. I take a psychodynamic approach to therapy, which is just a fancy way of saying we’ll explore how your past quietly shapes your present. By gently leaning into the uncomfortable (with a bit of humor along the way), we can uncover the roots of your challenges and work toward freeing you from the self-limiting beliefs that no longer serve you.

Intervention Therapists
How does an intervention work?
An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?
There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?
While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?
Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
