I recognize that taking the first step to seek out professional counseling can be a big one. I work with both individuals and couples to achieve their goals. We work on things like managing anxiety, relationship issues, sex and intimacy, dealing with life's transitions, and increasing coping skills. Many couples come to therapy having difficulty communicating and expressing their needs. With more people working from home and spending time cooped up together it is increasingly important to understand and communicate with your partner. It can be an opportunity to understand each other on deeper more meaningful level.

I often use Internal Family Systems in my work, exploring why certain "parts" of you exist, how are they working (or not), and how to use your existing strengths to help support your growth.
I offer empirically based Gottman Method couples therapy to treat issues such as high conflict, infidelity/affair recovery, and couples with trauma. My ideal clients are married or unmarried couples ready to take the next step into couples work. Maybe your relationship is weakened by the constant fighting, your partner makes no sense to you. Why don't they see it? Why do I feel so alone with you? Whatever the conflict may be, I will meet you there. Healing from an affair, arguments getting out of control, or drifting apart are painful for everyone, don't go at it alone, I will advocate for each of you with fairness and empathy.

I am a Level 2 Internal Family Systems ( IFS) therapist who works with individuals all ages, from elders to littles and everyone in between.
Healing happens when we feel seen, heard, and accepted for who we are. When such a fundamental need goes unmet—of course, we feel adrift and disconnected, both from ourselves and from the world around us. We fall out of touch with our intuition and our bodies and feel immobilized. If you’re seeking help, you’re already doing the work. My role is to help you continue to strengthen that resilience and wisdom already within you.

My ideal clients are individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or relational stress. They are seeking healthier patterns, deeper connection, and greater peace in daily life. They come to therapy because they believe change is possible, and we collaborate to create it. Together, we focus on identifying unhelpful patterns and building the skills and insight that lead to meaningful, lasting growth.

Secure, confident individuals are not born, but created. Trauma, relationship struggles, and major life changes can disrupt our sense of stability and connection. Often, we may find ourselves repeating patterns we don't fully understand - in our relationships, our families, and within ourselves. What once helped us survive may now be creating isolation, conflict, or emotional overwhelm.

I take a Parts Work/Internal Family Systems informed approach: an evidence-based therapy proven to help anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma.
Do you feel hopelessly pulled in different directions? Part of you wants change, while another part feels stuck, critical, or overwhelmed? You might even struggle with intense emotions, inner conflict, people-pleasing, shame, or patterns that don’t make logical sense - patterns that feel impossible to shift. Your anxiety, depression, and stress have reached a point where they are affecting your relationships, work, and/or pleasure, but you don't know where to begin in your healing.

You understand your patterns intellectually, but shifting them in real life feels impossible. You feel like you keep reacting in ways you don’t fully understand shutting down, overexplaining, people-pleasing, or pulling away even when you genuinely want to respond differently. Small things trigger big emotions, and you can go from calm to overwhelmed in seconds. In your relationship, the same fight keeps resurfacing with different details, escalating quickly until neither of you feels heard or understood.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
