Have you ever uttered the words "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired" or felt like even when you are happy, that you are just waiting for the other shoe to fall? Do you have thoughts that no matter what you do, nothing seems to change and you find yourself in the same toxic relationships over and over again? Maybe you have even had thoughts that it's all too much and there never seems to be that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel that everybody keeps talking about. Yet something keeps you going, some small voice inside you knows you want more, knows you are capable of more.

My clinical experience and training involves helping those with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, mood instability, conflict, behavior/legal struggles, grief and loss, and adjustment issues.
Glennon Melton, an author I admire, has described life as “brutiful.” Brutiful blends the two words, “Beautiful” & “Brutal”, which summarizes how we often experience our journeys in life. Life has its beautiful moments, it also has some difficult, hard times. When life feels painful and you need someone to talk to, I am someone who can provide a safe place to feel supported & heard. My goal is to provide a place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and coping strategies in order to find clarity, to better understand yourself, and to strengthen healthy emotion management and interpersonal skills.

You’ve spent so much time holding it together for everyone else that you may not even remember what it feels like to put yourself first. Maybe you’re overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or carrying experiences that still feel heavy long after they happened. You don’t have to keep doing it alone. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected from themselves, constantly “on,” or wondering why it feels so hard to cope when they’ve been strong for so long.

Clients struggling with addictions, poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-defeating behaviors, and impulse control problems will find my services helpful. Are you feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, yet unsure how to break free? Perhaps you're a veteran struggling to translate military skills into civilian life, a young adult navigating the overwhelming transition to independence, or an adolescent trying to find your voice amid external pressures. Life's challenges can leave us feeling powerless—as if we're passengers rather than drivers in our own journey. But within these struggles lies an opportunity to rediscover your agency and build the resilience needed to face whatever comes next.

Are you experiencing problems with addiction? Do you have trouble handling depression, trauma, and anxiety? I would like to be your guide in becoming sober and healing. As a experienced clinician, I recognize those that struggle with mental health and addiction are some of the most intelligent and artistic individuals. Often, those that experience anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts saw drugs and alcohol as a way to cope and calm their thoughts. I am here to walk you through the journey of hope to recovery, however that may look to you.

Do you feel pain? Emotional and psychological pain are as damaging to a person as physical pain. And, avoiding pain through unhealthy distractions never works. The roller coaster ride associated with trauma can be very overwhelming – leading to feelings of pain. Drugs and behavioral addictions, risky behaviors, and unhealthy thinking only act as a temporary Band-Aid – they are not the solution to the difficulties and pain you are facing.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
