Everyone else is making progress in life while you’re standing still. Painful reminders sit like a suffocating weight on your chest, preventing you from taking action. The nagging voice in your head never lets up. “You’re not good enough. Just give up already.” The worst part is you’re starting to believe it. You don’t feel worthy of love, so you settle for unfulfilling relationships. You’re so stuck in the past that it’s impossible to focus on the future. There must be more to life than this! You know that something needs to change.

Wow. What a couple of years- am I right? Things are weird, they're hard and uncomfortable at times. You're always adapting and it feels like more is being asked of you each time you feel like you're getting settled. But I'll let you in on a secret- you've got this. It may not feel that way right now, but deep inside you've been given, and have ALWAYS held, the ability to change. To adapt. To overcome. If you've read this far and you're thinking you want to know more about the ember that's kindling inside- I'm your gal (or therapist, in this instance).

Taking on New Clients! Having a safe space to talk can help you feel validated, heard and grounded. If you are feeling stressed in life, are experiencing new or past struggles, feel overwhelmed, burned out or are wanting to work on your self esteem and communication, we can make improvements to find that balance in life. I value social and racial justice and take into account culture, environment, family background, and inter-generational patterns and trauma when working with my clients.

I'm passionate about empowering individuals who have felt unseen, misunderstood, marginalized, and voiceless, and I love working with and empowering women in all stages of life. As a woman who has felt disempowered from past trauma and shame, I'm passionate about working with women to achieve greater self-worth and confidence and embrace their authentic self. I find joy in helping people heal from past trauma, transform limiting beliefs of shame into the truth of who they are, find meaning and purpose, and courageously tell their story.

The stigma around mental health prevents many people from seeking treatment. While people have become slightly less judgmental of those seeking help for substance use disorder and depression, childhood trauma, ADHD, PTSD, and other conditions remain the subject of shame and suspicion. I have experienced this myself and I know how painful and wrong it can feel! This experience gave me my passion for advocating for the acceptance of mental health care for youth and adults.

I believe no one is exempt from healing or wholeness. My philosophy is that we can learn the skills needed to engage our courage, cultivate trust, embrace truth, and realize the wholeness inherent within. We do not exist in isolation, and that is a clue to healing. As a therapist I companion your journey, guiding with perceptivity and clinical expertise but ultimately cultivating client self-determination, nurturing the innate guidance within, and honoring the client as the authority over their own personhood. Investing in ourselves and our healing benefits everyone, and that investment comes back to us in unforeseen beautiful ways.

Seeking support and guidance? As humans, we suck at communicating and comprehending. Therefore, it can be difficult to form a connection with others where you feel heard, understood and accepted. I am here to make observations, pose questions and provide unconditional support. I am also here to help you make sense of the bag you've been carrying. Let's talk about unzipping it, looking inside, keeping what's crucial and sorting through the rest. Everyone has a different starting point and I meet you where you are comfortable. Then, we move through this journey together so you are able to reach your goals.

Do you feel unheard? Like no one understands you? Maybe you feel like you've lost yourself and tried everything to cope, but still feel empty, angry, and alone. What if someone could guide you in truly defining who you are and help you design a clear path back to yourself? You deserve to be heard, to learn helpful coping skills, and to discover self-care techniques to feel more content and more like yourself again. No one should have to walk this journey alone! I love working with clients in establishing a better sense of empowerment and self esteem. I work from a feminist lens challenging clients to improve their self worth.

How can I find a therapist in Colorado Springs?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
