“No need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer” – Viktor Frankl. Sometimes we hide our pain or get stuck on the how of life; however, starting counseling is a courageous act on the path to finding the why. My why is to help the community that I grew up in with genuine compassion for each person who is struggling. People have always felt comfortable opening up to me, and I always find ways to help my community. Also, being a Colorado Springs native, I have always loved the outdoors and exploring its beauty.

I use trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, and parts work to help you reconnect with the pieces of yourself that have been trying to protect you for a long time.
I help adults who’ve already done the work in therapy but still feel pulled back into familiar emotional patterns. Together, we uncover what’s driving those reactions and transform old patterns into clarity, calm, and confidence.
You might notice yourself replaying the past: overthinking every conversation, apologizing for existing, or shutting down when things get close. Part of you wants to move forward, but another part keeps pulling you back. That tug-of-war can be confusing and lonely, but it’s not impossible to untangle.

My main modalities integrate the brain, heart/emotions, and body through mindfulness, EMDR, and narrative therapy.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" (Anais Nin). You know when it's time to make a change - whether the struggle is depression, anxiety, past trauma, or perhaps a painful relationship - there comes a tipping point when you are ready to make that first step toward hope.

I practice EMDR because I have experienced it myself and it changed everything for me.
I am proud to be serving our community of Colorado Springs. Often consultations end with positive energy to commit to therapy services because this is an investment into yourself. I am the passenger in the vehicle with you, but you're the one driving. Sometimes we feel we don't have control when we are in the driver's seat of our own journey. Let me be your biggest cheerleader through your therapeutic journey, but also your mentor and guide. I will help you learn more about yourself and assist with resolutions. I believe we have the ability to process through our thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a productive way.

I'm licensed in the state of CO and hold additional training in trauma-informed therapy and EMDR.
My goal is to assist in your discovery and integration of your authentic self and in improving your mental/emotional health. A dear friend of mine, Becky, recently stated “Knowing yourself is half the battle...and laughing at yourself is the other half.” Discovering, becoming and being yourself is a forever evolving process; a process of becoming authentically YOU. Life is what we’re here to live, but how often are we living consciously, intently and with full awareness and presence as our authentic self? Therapy can help with this process.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
