Welcome to Embodied Hope Therapy & Wellness! Therapy with me is gentle and deeply relational. Because stress & trauma are not just cognitive, but are embodied (are lived experiences in the body) healing is also embodied. I often include gentle, body-aware practices to help you feel more grounded, regulated, & connected to yourself. I have particular expertise in helping individuals &/or couples heal from the trauma of attachment wounding, sexual betrayal/infidelity, emotional abuse, and neglect. Therapy with me is more than just talk therapy. We can even meet outside at a safe spot in nature, or for walk-&-talk therapy on a trail.

Do you ever feel lost, like your spark has dimmed or your sense of purpose is hard to find? Maybe you feel like you should have it all figured out by now. These messages can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, especially during times of big change. My role is to walk with you and offer a safe, steady, judgment free space where you can sort through what you are experiencing and reconnect with the parts of yourself that feel overlooked or confused. Together, we explore the emotions and shifts that come with life transitions and create space for clarity, confidence, and meaning to grow.

This is my only and official Psychology Today profile—please beware of impersonations. My ideal client is ready to heal but feels stuck in anxiety, overthinking, or emotional exhaustion. They’ve faced trauma or big transitions and crave peace, clarity, and purpose. They want to understand their mind and body, not just cope but truly recover. They value authenticity and may want to include faith in therapy. Together, we uncover root causes, rewire thought patterns, and build resilience so they can feel safe, confident, and whole again.

So you're looking for a change - let's get started! You might be stuck, perhaps held back by the past, not sure how to live in the present, or uncertain about moving into the future. If that's you, it's a good time for some counseling. I am a man of faith, a motorcycle rider, a runner, a reader, and one or two other things outside of counseling, just in case we still haven't connected. In counseling and support groups, I’ve focused my time helping people face addictions, trauma, and all the relationships in between. I often rely on the AASAT training for addictions, EMDR for trauma, and EFT for couples.

I am skilled at treating clients who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems as a result of trauma, stress and interpersonal conflict. Clients struggling with addictions, poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-defeating behaviors, and impulse control problems will find my services helpful. I appreciate clients who may not yet have identified their goals as I like the challenge of developing goals with my clients and seeing them grow and progress over the course of therapy.

Hello, I'm Danielle, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor. My training in sport psychology, addiction, and neurofeedback informs the work I do with clients to help them succeed in life. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I recognize that there is a time for solution-focused therapy and a time for existential-humanistic psychology, which delves more into the deeper meaning of life. I am committed to supporting clients according to their unique needs and circumstances.

My ideal client is one who feels that they are stuck and has found it hard to find a way out. They are seeking purpose and are tired of living an unfulfilled life. They may have made some mistakes and need assistance on the journey of reconciliation. They could be dealing with a loss so detrimental that it has halted any forward progress in life and they now need to understand the new person they will become. They could have suffered tremendously at the hands of others and the pain of the past is still present and they need to find away to make sense of it all. My ideal client has been afflicted with the human condition.

I view each person I meet as a unique individual with their own goals, needs, and desires. Life can be challenging to navigate, and it can be helpful to have a nonjudgmental person to talk to who actually understands and cares. I want to be that person for you, whom you can open up to and trust, who will show you compassion and empathy in your darkest hours and hardest struggles. I believe that you are the master of your own life but I am here to help you find the path to happiness, break the patterns holding you back, and start thriving.

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression and other aftereffects of trauma and abuse (such as PTSD, uncontrolled anger or addiction). I use powerful somatic methods (including IFS & EMDR) to help you resolve thoughts, emotions and physical reactions. I particularly welcome military veterans, first responders, and those abused as children. Many people suffering from ongoing effects of trauma just want to know how to cope. But often more is available than just coping, sometimes much more. Healing is possible-your body (including your mind) is always trying to heal. I would be honored to work with you to support your progress.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
