I am passionate about working with women and queer people, ages 18-35, who are looking to reconnect with their truest selves, and manage anxiety, depression, and stress. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore your inner world, emotions, and grow. So many factors put stress on people and cause them to shrink, and I love to support those who are ready to call back their power, reconnect with themselves, and free themselves of the pressures weighing them down.

Used to doing it alone? A steady presence can help experiences settle, shift and guide what comes next. - Kim You manage everyone else’s emotions, carry responsibility well and rarely fall apart in public. On the outside, you’re competent and driven. On the inside, you may feel chronically overwhelmed, exhausted or quietly numb. You’ve survived a lot — loss, trauma, attachment wounds — and you’re tired of constantly bracing yourself for the next thing. You replay past events and wish you could move on. You struggle to truly rest. You want relief, but you don’t want your experience oversimplified.

The past few years have been traumatic for individuals and families all over the world. Many have had difficulty coping with their day-to-day struggles which has been compounded by underlying traumatic events, abuse, and lack of support. Many struggle with unhealthy coping mechanisms to help them manage their depression and anxiety. This often leads to neglecting individual needs, unhealthy coping, toxic relationships, & substance use. Understanding how these issues manifest in one's life and discovering how to heal and become the best version of oneself is a difficult process that is most effective with someone to serve as a guide

I am a play therapist and love to infuse art and play throughout the lifespan.
My clients are often suffering from anxiety, depression, and struggles with self-worth. Building resiliency and distress tolerance are the first steps, increasing comfort with uncomfortable emotions and body signals. Once a client has skills to self-soothe, we can start digging deeper into issues of trauma, attachment wounds, and injuries stemming from family of origin. Identifying and challenging self-limiting beliefs, building self-love through exploration, discovery, and radical acceptance of self are some of the things we may work on.

I use techniques from play therapy, sand tray therapy, art therapy, EMDR, Theraplay, and more.
You’re worried about your kid. They’re struggling with depression, anxiety, bullying, friendships, self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or big life changes. They aren’t themselves; they’re avoiding school, fighting with others, and acting out in ways that make you want to tear your hair out. If you get one more call from school, you’re going to lose it. If this sounds like you, there is hope. Things can get better with a little support. I would be honored to come alongside you and your family to promote healthy attachment, productive communication, and fun!

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
