My approach is relational in nature & I take my specific training from ACT , brainspotting, RCT, & existentialism to create the approach that will work best for you.
Do you ever wake up and question what your purpose is? Do you notice that those outward successes & achievements you strived so hard for no longer bring any joy or fulfillment? Going through the day-to-day routine just feeling on autopilot with all your interactions and activities even when the weekend comes & it is meant to be time for you. Even the strongest shot of expresso can't seem to shake you out of this haze. If you are ready to dig in, & question what you thought you wanted & who you thought you were then you are ready to work together. You are ready to leave others' expectations behind & find yourself.

Acceptance is core to the work I do.
The weight of emotional pain can be unbearable and lonely. It is difficult, impossible even, to envision feeling better, feeling fulfilled, feeling connected or just feeling like yourself again. These emotions may result from substance use/abuse, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, or life/work stressors. I understand how daunting this first step can be and I provide a safe, warm space to help you make your way through this and find your healthy path.

I believe in active listening, empathy, unconditional self acceptance , and solutions for most concerns.
Client's want to be understood, skills to cope and reduce stress, or emotional pain reduced to a manageable level. They want their life to make some kind of difference for something they're passionate about. They may not know what that is and that's ok, we can explore this. What makes you tick? What gets you out of bed in the morning? What makes you come alive? We can't do much of this when we're consumed by worry, have a phobia, or stuck in grief. Therapy can help with this. Some clients simply need to look at a new career choice. No matter what your mental health concern, I can help.

I have the most experience treating are anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and post-traumatic stress disorder, addressed using either cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or acceptance and commitment therapy ( ACT ) to challenge beliefs with facts, evidence, reasoning, and logic and provide tools to lead a life that’s consistent with their personal values.
Life is complicated, and sometimes it's complicated further by loss, trauma, illnesses, relationships, and changing environments. Maybe you’ve been trying too long to do things on your own. I’ve been there. In hindsight, it didn’t work. What does work is processing life’s complications with a trained professional who’s objective yet personable. While our specific paths may differ, I can help you find your way out of the forest and back to safety and fulfillment.

I am trained in DBT, CBT, Gottman, and ACT .
Hello! I moved to Colorado 7 years ago from the upper Midwest. I am proud to say I have an eclectic experience when it comes to counseling. I started off as a postgraduate career counselor then moved on to school counseling (elementary and high school) then therapy with both parolees and inmates in one of the state prisons. From there I have put a focus on working with clients and couples who suffer from depression, anxiety, personality disorders, gender identity, and concerns related to intimacy and sex.

The primary treatment I use for OCD and related concerns is Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ERP), which is the most researched method of treating OCD and has seen the most success in treatment so far, and I use some aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT ) as well.
I have some limited openings and I am only accepting clients for OCD-related concerns at this time. If you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsions, phobias, or social anxieties, I would be talk over the phone or sit down for a consultation to see if treatment with me may be helpful. I have worked with a variety of concerns in the past, but have limited my practice to OCD-related disorders due to limited treatment availability in the area.

I prefer to work through a holistic lens and am trained in EMDR, DBT, Acudetox and use principles from mindfulness and strengths based practices, empowerment, CBT, ACT and IFS.
I work with individuals ages 16 and up who are seeking guidance in the treatment of anxiety, depression, disordered eating and body image issues, trauma (EMDR) and women’s issues. I have special interest in working with those who are in eating disorder recovery or who engage in disordered eating thoughts and behaviors, experience anxiety and guilt around food, or who may feel they have a difficult relationship with food and no longer trust their bodies. I also enjoy working with athletes, and runners in particular, as I am one myself!

This work is about welcoming and accepting who you are including all the parts you push away. It is about deep personal growth and empowerment. Learning how to safely experience your fear and pain. About facing the hard stuff so you can move through it. This is true for individuals as well as couples and families. Specialties: Pre-marital, Women, Cancer

I am a seasoned therapist with extensive training in CBT and ACT .
Feeling like it's just all too much? Racing thoughts and constant worries that you just can't seem to stop? You feel restless, tired and anxious. Your partner doesn't seem to understand you. You have tried self-help books, groups or apps, but none of these are helping you to get where you want to be. You try to be strong and give your best, but it's not the life you expected. You begin to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. Life struggles, chronic stress, depression or serious illness like cancer can lead to overwhelming anxiety or a feeling of being stuck with no way out.

The foundation of my work is humanistic/existential, while employing other specific therapy interventions (such as CBT, DBT, ACT , CPT) aimed at teaching, empowering, and lifting clients to their best selves.
I prefer clients who are motivated and open-minded above all other qualities. I have experience working with people who have a number of varying challenges, such as trauma (all kinds), anxiety, depression, grief, family discord, communication challenges, transitions, and adjustments to significant changes. Most people have goals to feel better, to experience more joy and peace in their lives. Some have specific goals like completing a project, or test, remaining on task without anxiety, for example. Overall, anyone who seeks therapy desires help with some sort of change in their current moods, habits, or state of mind.

You deserve to feel heard, feel valued, find peace & self- acceptance .
Life can be hard! There are times that life deals us circumstances that we aren’t sure how to maneuver. Sometimes life is just plain confusing, and it can be hard to comprehend how to move forward. The adolescents, couples, and adults that we see often struggle with managing difficult emotions, anxiety, depression, and/or challenging behaviors. They have often experienced painful things in the past that they have buried. This is where counseling could come in as a tool...one of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are really doing and feeling. A safe place to explore thoughts and feelings.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

Is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy evidence-based?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is one of many approaches within the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidence-based treatment framework that has been shown to be effective in treating many mental health conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD.

What is the difference between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Despite being part of the CBT family of therapies, ACT differs from other approaches within this field in several important ways: First, it emphasizes acceptance over change; second, it focuses on present moment experiences rather than past experiences or future events; third it focuses on what clients can do rather than what they cannot do; and fourth it emphasizes values rather than symptoms as targets for change.

What credentials will a certified Acceptance and Commitment therapist have?

A certified Acceptance and Commitment therapist in Colorado Springs will have completed specialized training in this approach at a university accredited by The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).

How long does ACT typically take?

ACT is a relatively short-term therapy that focuses on helping you accept the things you can't change and commit to the things you can. It typically takes about eight weeks of weekly sessions with a therapist to complete the entire process. You may need to see your therapist weekly or biweekly, depending on the circumstances surrounding your situation.
