I use techniques found in ACT, DBT, and CBT.
Hi there! I am so glad you are here. I acknowledge that finding a therapist can feel like an overwhelming task, and therapy itself can feel intimidating. My desire is to offer you a safe space where you can begin your journey towards growth and where you feel comfortable navigating the big emotions that life can bring up. I bring a warm, compassionate, and caring presence into the therapy room. Over time, I enjoy creating a space where we can get curious - where we can challenge ways of thinking, dig deep into the root of your experience, or explore different ways of viewing a situation. This is all at your pace.

Not accepting clients at this time- Do you feel like you’ve had a hard time coping with the stressors of your personal journey through life? We all often struggle with finding effective ways to cope with our challenges and at times we utilize ineffective ways because it’s what worked. My goal for clients is to provide an open, non judgmental place for individuals to reflect, meditate, refocus, reframe, and be intentional in their steps toward progress. I use an integrative approach to care which often include use of CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, Heartmath (Biofeedback), Adlerian Therapy, Brainspotting (Phase 1 Trained).

We operate in a judgement free zone where acceptance is priority.
Using evidence-based therapeutic models, clients learn to identify anxious thoughts tied to their core beliefs. By replacing the anxious thoughts with what is true about them, relief from anxiety occurs. I validate people’s experiences while helping them uncover the truth about their inherent value and worth in order to re-frame their problems and discover solutions to them. I focus on what clients believe about themselves and how they shape their behavior emphasizing solutions not problems. Together with the client, we re-frame perceptions in light of discovered truth creating new perceptions that influence our feelings

I am here to provide acceptance, reassurance, empathy, and support.
Are you tried of feeling like you don’t have any control in life? Are you tired of worrying and anticipating the worse? Sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and other traumatic experiences impact us for a lifetime. The experience often leaves us feeling confused, doubtful, anxious, sad, and worthless. These traumatic experiences can shake the very core of our being, impact our relationships, and make us wonder how to move on and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes these horrible things make us feel lost and stuck in life.

I am trained in a variety of modalities, including DBT, CBT, ACT, and EMDR.
I believe deeply that nurturing safety through non-judgement, honesty, and transparency in the therapeutic relationship creates space for the authentic self to do the hard work of therapy. I work through the lens of humanism, taking a person-centered, relationship-forward approach. I believe genuine human connection is central to our healing and growth. I believe in the tenets of radical acceptance and unconditional positive regard: my role is not judge and jury, but supporter and advocate.

You are the expert for your life, I just act as a guide.
“No need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer” – Viktor Frankl. Sometimes we hide our pain or get stuck on the how of life; however, starting counseling is a courageous act on the path to finding the why. My why is to help the community that I grew up in with genuine compassion for each person who is struggling. People have always felt comfortable opening up to me, and I always find ways to help my community. Also, being a Colorado Springs native, I have always loved the outdoors and exploring its beauty.

I utilize evidenced-based theories (ACT, DBT) to help you develop new skills, and lean into your current strengths/values so you can work toward your goals and live with a renewed sense of purpose.
Do you often find yourself struggling with wondering if it is ok to feel the way you do about things? Perhaps part of you thinks it is time to set some boundaries (with family, work, your partner) but you aren't sure how or if you're even entitled to do so? You want things to be different, but it feels like there's something in your way. In my work with clients, we focus on two main areas, what I call the “why” and the “how”. The “why” is about working together to gain a deeper understanding of where your concerns began. The “how” is about what you do with that knowledge to move toward a life you'd enjoy living more.

Acceptance is core to the work I do.
The weight of emotional pain can be unbearable and lonely. It is difficult, impossible even, to envision feeling better, feeling fulfilled, feeling connected or just feeling like yourself again. These emotions may result from substance use/abuse, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, or life/work stressors. I understand how daunting this first step can be and I provide a safe, warm space to help you make your way through this and find your healthy path.

You deserve to feel heard, feel valued, and find peace & self-acceptance.
Has traditional talk therapy not felt like "enough"? Do you find it difficult to put words together to describe your experiences? Have you found yourself stuck in patterns, situations, or relationships? The teens, couples, & adults that we see often struggle with managing difficult emotions, anxiety, dissociation, depression, and grief. They have often experienced painful things in the past that they have buried. We help your brain process these things and heal. One of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are really doing & feeling. A place to explore thoughts & feelings using clay, art, & horses.

As your therapist, my goal is to meet you where you are, to provide validation and encouragement through objectivity, empathy, acceptance, and respect.
People are often drawn to therapy by a catalyst, a traumatic experience or formative moment awakens a troubling realization that all is not right. Whether we lean on unhealthy coping skills, abuse drugs or alcohol, engage in toxic relationships, or any number of other visible actualizations of internal struggle, the trauma makes itself known and heard. Engaging therapy is an important first step in facing those emotions and beginning to re-process them in a manner that serves the self and paves a road forward.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
