ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS and I accept medicaid Navigating through life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Life can kick us in the gut and making it hard to catch our breath. Sometimes feelings are overwhelming without a reason. Reaching out for help seems like one more thing. It sometimes feels like you are shattered into a billion pieces. I get it, we've all been there. I work mostly with teens, having been a troubled and angry depressed teen myself. I have seen people take the broken pieces of their lives and create beauty. I can walk with you on that journey to healing.

Everyone experiences unpleasant feelings such as anxiety, stress, and depression sometimes, but it's when these feelings build up without a healthy outlet that they can really effect our quality of life. The good news is that negative feelings are very manageable, and once you understand why you have certain unhelpful thoughts/behaviors/responses, you can learn to manage them in a more productive way that brings relief. Everyone needs someone they can trust and talk to who is outside their inner circle and meeting with a therapist can be a great step towards finding relief and understanding.

Being first-gen Latino/a means speaking one language at home and another outside, being there for family while trying to figure out who you are. It’s a lot to carry, and not always easy to explain. My goal is to create a space where Black and Brown individuals can show up fully, without code-switching or over-explaining. A place to heal, reflect, and grow. While my focus is on serving communities of color, I also work with white clients who are mindful of this focus—those who are doing their own work and open to learning. My goal is always to build a relationship grounded in respect, authenticity, and mutual growth.

Struggling with self-doubt, low self-esteem, or uncertainty? Maybe you feel stuck in patterns shaped by your past, making it hard to trust yourself or move forward. You show up for others but struggle to recognize and honor your own needs and voice. I help my clients move from anxiety, overthinking and "analysis paralysis" to embodiment, self-trust, confidence in their lives. So much of what holds us back isn’t conscious—it’s wired into our nervous system, which is why I help my clients through a "bottom up approach", meaning we work a lot with the body through tools like Somatic Experiencing and IFS parts work.

Let's talk. At some point we all have experienced uncertainty, confusion, sadness or feeling lost. A stagnant barrier limiting happiness in waking up, the ability to feel comfortable with positive choices, trust and communication in relationships, or create healthy coping. By using a person-centered and humanistic approach with individuals and couples struggling with their emotions and mental health, we can explore a journey of self -discovery and attachment. Build skills needed for personal growth, overcome barriers you may be facing and recognize your strengths, start building upon new ones and embracing self-awareness.

The symptoms we experience in our everyday lives are the stories of our lives. Searching for a solution in therapy is a brave first step. Perhaps you ask yourself, how do I know what I need when working with a counselor? A free consultation is provided to ensure we are a good fit. The most important part of my role in the therapeutic relationships is to bring a sense of presence and trust to our sessions. Notice what that brings up for you. I believe when planting the garden of your future you get to choose the seeds and decide what to compost. I specialize in helping people navigate the impact of relationships on human development.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
