Passionate about family and couples therapy; I help children, (incl. adults) teens and & caregivers to communicate through difficulty, negotiate, and live more harmoniously.
Accepting new clients ...Beginning to build a strong rapport begins w/ our initial conversation, allowing for open dialogue. I aim to be as authentic, supportive, and direct as possible; helping you, you and your partner, children, and/or parents, to work on the obstacles standing in the way of reaching your goals. Sometimes this means experiencing an accepting and validating environment or an opportunity to feel safe communicating with your family. My approach depends on your goals for our work together and what degree of challenge you feel ready for. Conflict or connection, I am here to support you.

Many of us, at some point in our lives, experience stress, struggle with interpersonal relationships, and question our self-worth. I have extensive experience and enjoy working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, experience chronic illness, as well as emerging adults struggling with life transitions through a relational psychodynamic orientation. I believe therapy can provide tremendous relief, increase joy and spontaneity, and allow you to know and experience a deeper sense of yourself. It can be difficult to start therapy. That is why I approach our work together from a place of compassion, genuineness, and authenticity.

I offer online therapy for adults and teens-across Colorado.
You spend so much time caring for everyone else that your own needs keep slipping to the bottom of the list, and somewhere along the way you forgot what you actually need. It makes sense that you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or just running on empty. This season only turns the dial up: fuller calendars, other people's stress landing in your lap, the quiet ache of being the one who holds it together. I work with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, and trauma. If you are ready for a space where all of your identities are welcomed instead of questioned, I'm here. Online therapy across Colorado at Affirm Counseling.

I work with children, adolescents, individual adults and couples.
The decision to begin therapy can be an emotional one. I am sensitive to the concerns people have about therapy and provide a non-intimidating, supportive and empowering environment for self-exploration and change. I encourage my clients to become active participants in their own lives and to create opportunities for themselves that lead to life enhancing change. Therapy is a challenging but rewarding process and we can work together toward positive outcomes.

Are you feeling stuck in life, even though things look great from the outside? Do you spend more time than you would like to admit overthinking, looping, and spiraling about all of life's uncertainties? Do you feel like things aren’t “bad enough” for therapy, yet you are navigating big life transitions and want a thoughtful space to explore what these changes mean for you? Whether professional or personal, big or small, life transitions tend to stir up deeper questions of identity, purpose, and belonging. I'm passionate about helping people thrive in the two areas that shape their lives most: relationships and career.

I believe that what many of us long for most is a deep sense of connection to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. Much of my work is with women who are seeking to restore contact with their aliveness, but feel blocked by anxiety, perfectionism, chronic stress, grief, depression, or past trauma. I also enjoy working with mothers and daughters who are wanting to repair past hurt, deepen, and learn new ways of relating. I provide a transformational space where client's can authentically embrace their whole selves, so that they feel more free and capable of leading their lives with clarity, integrity, and heart.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral challenges.
Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves. You may find yourself caught in cycles of anxiety, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, or behavioral struggles that seem difficult to change. Others may feel exhausted from masking, struggling to regulate emotions, or trying to understand the impact that past experiences continue to have on their daily lives. Often, these challenges are connected to patterns that developed earlier in life and continue to influence how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
