As our lives are filled with many joys, there also may be challenging or difficult moments. In those times, it is important to remember you do not have to face them alone. I believe it shows strength to ask for help in these difficult and challenging times. I would be honored to assist you through these times. I have experience working with individuals from preteens to adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and other mood disorders. I like to help people learn coping strategies to help manage these symptoms.

Each of us aims to perform in this production of life, although, I understand all too well that we take on several distinct roles. As a mentor to adolescents and young adults, a career woman, wife, and mother, I understand the juggling act in today’s society, whether you are trying to balance several different roles or are struggling to simply master one. I will help you find calm amidst your storm, explore goals within your current career or desired calling, rehearse healthy relationship skills, and encourage you to "do you," contrary to what the world around you may be saying.

The influence of our surroundings makes a significant impact on what we believe and who we become. Sometimes, those around us share their opinions and expectations so freely that it silences our own needs and desires. Therapy is a place where your thoughts and feelings can be heard and understood- without the fear of judgment. I work with the intention of helping clients understand the past, so that they can live in the moment and find hope in the future. I will support you on the journey of self-discovery by providing insights as well as tangible tools to make the journey more enjoyable, even when it's tough.

Hearing and holding your pain is a sacred privilege that I do not take lightly. My aim is to create a safe place of compassion where you feel free to explore any issues you might be facing. There will always be storms in life. Therapy won’t change that. But therapy can help you successfully navigate life’s ups and downs. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, relational struggles or life transitions, I’d love to help you navigate the twists and turns. I'm a board certified LPC counselor (NCC), trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, and certified in Level 2 Gottman Therapy.

I believe that individuals are uniquely designed with an inner connectedness spanning our cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual experiences. Because of this design, health and healing are best found through strengthening each of these interconnected elements of our being. My therapeutic approaches are based upon this belief. With couples, I use a hope-focused (strengths based) approach, while examining the family dynamics, or "systems" that are in effect. When working with individuals, I use Cognitive Behavioral approach (CBT), client-centered and systems approaches to holistically facilitate growth, healing and increased self-awareness.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, feeling connected with yourself and others, and more? Does it affect your day-to-day life, your relationships, your work, and how you feel overall? Or you may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, lost, and disconnected by the day to day life and demands. You may be asking yourself, "Is life supposed to feel this way?" The answer is no. Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, careers and their lives. Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term issues.

Every morning is the same. The alarm goes off, and you hit the snooze button over and over before finally tumbling out of bed. Why? Because facing the day is drudgery. You get all the necessary tasks done but without enthusiasm, connection, or joy. The panic and fear are just icing on the cake. That voice in your head tells you, “Don’t bother. You’ll never measure up.” No one knows how hard it is to keep going. It doesn’t feel safe to tell them. Where did the voice come from? When did it start? Too long ago to remember. One thing’s for sure, nothing you’ve tried has worked.

I do virtual therapy with clients here in Colorado. Most of my clients are seeking assistance in mitigating the stressors in their lives. Family relationships; grief/loss; difficulties with parenting or accepting parenting; substance use; crises of faith...all these issues are present in my practice. Most are looking for direction; someone to help sort through the problem and achieve an adaptive resolution. They are distressed that they are at odds with family; concerned over the loss of control with substances; and some are wondering about their purpose in the world.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Centennial?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
