Whether you are seeking therapy to process specific life events, develop coping mechanisms to better manage stressors, feel stuck, or simply want to better yourself, I believe therapy can help. I have experience working with a wide range of diagnoses and presenting problems from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders, to processing grief and loss, life changes, and interpersonal relationships. I take an approach that is client-centered and integrative. Humans are complex beings and I believe that one of the first steps to healing is fully understanding and accepting ourselves.

Therapists need a safe space for healing too! You work hard to be effective and compassionate with your clients, and you know that your work is best when you take care of your own emotional needs. You may be facing burnout, your own trauma or life challenges or just the realization that “it’s time” to return to therapy. As therapists, it's our unique challenge to let ourselves relax and trust someone to take care of us in effective ways. You'll immediately feel supported in a non-judgmental and highly confidential space. I offer a safe place for healing with the therapist in mind.

In my work I emphasize culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches, blending Person Centered, CBT, Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Reaching out for support in our most vulnerable times can be painful, confusing, and quite literally scary! Whether you are a parent seeking support for your child, a family navigating challenging dynamics, or an adult facing a major life change, you will be met with authenticity and compassion. I believe our unique life experiences shape who we are, how well we connect with our inner Being, and how we interact with the world around us. Therapy is a place where you should feel heard, embraced, and most importantly- safe.

I’m not scared of your trauma or grief.
You’ve been to therapy before, but it keeps feeling more like bandaids than breakthrough. And you’re worried the problem is you. Things start off okay, until the inevitable plateau hits and you keep leaving sessions feeling frustrated and empty. Something’s definitely missing, but you can’t put your finger on what. You just know it hasn’t led to the lasting change you crave. Motivated to do deep work and ready to get at the root, you’ve outgrown the one-size-fits-all approach. Annd it’s also a little scary going to those deeper layers.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest tools we can develop for healing. As a psychotherapist, I strive to create an authentic, person-centered, non-judgmental environment for all individuals seeking help. My clients are the experts in their lives and they engage in therapy to better understand external/internal changes, personality traits, relational patterns, life changes, and past and/or present trauma. Their goals vary, but similarly each individual desires to understand themselves with greater clarity and self-compassion. Together, we look at the whole self which is not limited to just the mind.

I specialize in working with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families, in areas of C PTSD/ trauma, divorce, high-conflict relationships, teen/adolescent issues, reintegration/reunification, social anxiety, adjustment and attachment issues.
Even the strongest person can be challenged by difficult experiences in their past or present life. Over time, we can become so complacent and comfortable with the discomfort that it becomes our new normal, forming our views and behaviors without knowing it's even happening. Life has a way of forcing us to confront things we believe we already overcame. Remember, therapy is not about “getting over” events and issues; it’s about understanding your triggers and learning how to manage your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to move forward and build a fulfilling life.

Welcome to my psychoanalytic practice for children, adolescents, and adults. Our minds have a huge influence on how we think and feel each day; slowing down and noticing subtle aspects of ourselves with a trained analyst can provide much needed integration of powerful emotions that have not yet had a voice for expression. People can articulate emotions without feeling them, experience emotions in the body, can't find words, and unthinkingly go into action never quite feeling satisfied. Psychoanalytic work can involve the experience of play, and with kids, play will be the work. Integrating feelings and thoughts vitalizes human life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
