I have 23 years of experience helping my clients change their relationship with their thoughts and feelings as they close the gap between how their lives are and how they want them to be. I draw from different approaches, which allows me to meet my clients where they are, creating a personalized approach unique to the needs of each person. While I specialize in substance abuse, women's issues , and depression, I also help clients develop skills to manage stress, improve their relationship with themselves and others, and adjust to life transitions such as divorce, starting a new relationship, or having a baby.

Specialty areas I include in my practice are adolescents (such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, school and family issues), grief/loss/transitions (death of a loved one, chronic or life threatening illness, pet loss, separation or divorce, job change/loss), women's issues (pregnancy, hormones), as well as working on relationships with couples and families.
Life is full of challenges. I believe these challenges can also be stepping stones to our own personal growth. Whether stress from a job, a relationship issue or perhaps experiencing depression or anxiety, everyone deserves to have a non-judgmental, safe place to be able to talk. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I strive to make my office a comfortable environment where those "hard conversations" can happen, resulting in a deeper understanding of what roles we play in relationships as well as how our thoughts impact how we feel and act.

I also work with Empaths and Highly Sensitive Persons, those recovering from narcissistic abuse relationship experiences, people facing stress, work related concerns as well as spirituality and women's issues .
Using a warm and present style, I trust the inner knowing of those I work with in the process of unfolding and moving through life. I use my gifts of intuition in our work together and am a reflective witness and facilitator to your process. My approach is integrative, utilizing various methods to support your growth and healing process. I am trained in Brainspotting and EMDR, and use these methods often in helping individuals experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, grief, and overwhelming experiences, to name a few. I value working with those who are motivated to explore their own growth and inner healing process.

Do you struggle feeling connected and close to others? Do you struggle with worry or stress? Do you sometimes lose sleep, become unfocused or distracted, or is being present and calm around other people challenging? The work I do with clients centers around learning how to feel calm and connected again. Sometimes, after a period of struggle (like a loss, divorce, or extended work stress), we can forget what it was like to not struggle. To find that calm again, to reclaim who we used to be, can help us move forward.

Ever felt like you can't control your emotions or like your thoughts are making you feel crazy? What about never feeling good enough, smart enough, skinny enough, perfect enough? Struggle with the fear of being a failure? This can be a scary place to be, you might be feeling alone and trapped by these thoughts. Like you can't share them because no one will understand. You're still trying to push through and continue with the multiple roles and tasks you take on every day but it is becoming harder and harder to find your motivation and confidence.

You want more from your life. People around you think you have it together and you have a great life. But they don’t know how anxious you feel, how much you drink or how you never feel good enough. It’s exhausting keeping it all together and it’s time for a change. Maybe you are questioning your drinking or you know something needs to shift because you feel disconnected from who you want to be. Whether you are a gray area drinker, taking a break from drinking or fully in recovery, you are welcome here. It's never too late to begin again!

When you meet me for the first time you will see my authentic self. I show up in session as I do in my life. What you see is what you get. I do this work, because I genuinely love people. My style is conversational and we will hopefully laugh at least once in session. Through my experience, I have learned that “normal” is a wide spectrum. What’s “normal” for one person doesn't make sense to another. I believe throughout our lives, we develop skills/thoughts/behaviors to manage our experiences: negative thinking patterns, anxiety, self-doubt, substance use and difficulty in relationships.

"We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to."-Brene Brown. I whole heartedly believe that healing occurs when we invite others to step into our story and walk along side us in times of struggle, hurt, and unknown. Because of this, I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to join you in your search for healing and wholeness. Although I am equipped to work with individuals in any stage of life I am especially passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults struggling with anything from anxiety and depression to trauma and self discovery.

I specialize in talk therapy for women, providing empathy and evidence-based techniques to guide you through tough times. As a therapist working with women, I aim to give compassion and evidence-based talk therapy to help guide them through dark or confusing periods. Assigning homework between sessions and working daily to develop new skills and positive habits is essential to achieve lasting change. Though the healing process can be uncomfortable and challenging, confronting difficult emotions and beliefs is necessary for personal growth and self-awareness.

It's time to make a lasting change, to get real and heal. Your life is too important. I help individuals unravel the complex stories of their lives. Life is full of twists and turns that pull us from our center, creating overwhelm and distress. Limiting beliefs picked up from childhood color our responses to loved ones and ourselves. We engage in behaviors that are disconnected from the person we really want to be. This feels awful.

We are living in a time of uncertainty, and for many, fear is a part of our every day lives. The healing and answers we seek go beyond band-aid approaches or comforting words. To heal our wounds, and live with the realities of life's unpredictability, we need all of us. And you need all of you, together, and whole. As you access a visceral awareness of your body and listen to your intuitive heart, your healing begins. Tapping into your mind’s creativity to unearth internal wisdom and external resources, all your parts together can mend traumatic injuries and weave together a new path.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
