My life philosophy revolves around bringing loving kindness and acceptance into all parts of my life—including inside the therapeutic space. I believe we are all doing the best with the tools and experiences we were given, and that therapy can bring new meaning to those experiences. As a counselor, it is not my job to tell others how they should be—instead, I am here to accept my clients as they are while holding space for the areas in their lives that they want to change.

Tim is Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Many sex & pornography addicts and their partners say they have been to therapy, but it has not been helpful….until they have begun therapy with a CSAT(Certified Sex Addiction Therapist). Founded by Dr. Carnes the CSAT program was developed after years of extensive experience and research in the field of addiction therapy now considered the gold seal standard in sex and pornography addiction. The dynamics of behavioral addictions are complex; so much so that mental health professionals must take an entirely different approach to even begin the process of understanding addiction and recovery.

I will provide individual, couples and family therapy to anyone seeking guidance. Regardless of your concerns, I will provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment to address your needs so that you can find a new perspective that will help you. When I provide couples counseling I begin with learning about you as a couple why you were attracted to each other. Then we work together to figure out what got lost that brought you to seek out counseling. I am a Level 2 PACT therapist, based on the teachings of Dr. Stan Tatkin.

Perhaps you are experiencing barriers in your sexual and relational health: you feel out of control, disconnected, or stuck in painful patterns. One of my favorite quotes from a movie is "if something gets in your way, turn." On the mountain top ready to ski down a "K12," and the best advice a friend gives is "turn." Changing your life's trajectory takes work, but when done effectively and efficiently you will see the path behind you in a different light and the path before you on new ground.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
