My approach to therapy is psychodynamic , focusing on how emotional and relational experiences contribute to past and present suffering.
The problems and symptoms bringing you to seek therapy might be connected to things you wish never happened. This can be overwhelming to feel and vulnerable to invite another person to be with you. Deep down you may be hoping for change and eager for healing, but unsure of how to get it. I believe psychotherapy is a sacred process that can look underneath the surface and explore deeply-rooted issues to help create long lasting and significant change. My hope is to partner with you to help you understand yourself, deepen your relationships with others, and foster your healing journey.

I have one-of-a-kind training from the Allender Center on Trauma & Abuse, receive ongoing Psychodynamic Narrative theory, and am LifePlan certified.
You are not the only one! Life can feel harder than you thought it would be. You may feel isolated or hopeless, or start to realize that your efforts to change aren't working. What if your life could be different? Effective therapy searches out the actual root of your problems, the "what's underneath." With this insight you begin to see the themes that have kept you captive in unhealthy patterns, and begin the process of growth. Of quieting the negative thoughts and shame, reviving struggling relationships, and finding kindness for yourself. Today you have a choice: hide again from the hurt, or step bravely into the mess.

I incorporate an eclectic mix of DBT, CBT, psychodynamic , mindfulness, motivational interviewing, as well as structural family therapy for families and play therapy for children in assisting others to attain their goals for life.
Anxiety, insecurity, anger, and depression get in the way of success and even more than that- they get in the way of you being happy with yourself and your life. Freeing yourself of these issues gives you the opportunity to experience life in a new way that improves your life, relationships, and your performance at work/school. Therapy can help you with these issues and you can begin to enjoy life again.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
