You feel stuck. You're in your head processing everything, all-day, every-day, from your relationships to your work-life. You’re always overthinking, over-analyzing… each conversation and replaying every interaction in your mind. A never-ending loop of anxious thoughts spins through your mind. These thoughts distract you from living your life. You try to do self-care, but you can’t seem to get any relief. Instead, you feel overwhelmed with fear, guilt, and confusion. Self-doubt consumes you. It’s exhausting endlessly second-guessing yourself. Your fear and insecurities overpower you and they’re taking over your life. You feel lost.

I provide eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (
EMDR

We all have things in our lives that we wish hadn't happened. Challenges happen all the time, and they're part of what make us human. Those challenges can change how you view the world, and how you view yourself--sometimes in a way that makes it hard to respond the way you want to when new challenges arise. But you don't have to continue living under the weight of these difficulties. You have the capacity to adapt new information, and to gain new insights that help you to view your past and present differently. I believe that through the work and healing done in treatment, a better future can be created.

My main approaches stem from the following theories:
EMDR
, IFS, Narrative, CBT, and EFT.
Does your pain feel like it is continually affecting your present? Does your past impede your joy in your relationships, career, hobbies, and goals? Do you feel ready to find freedom from the things that are weighing you down? If you feel like any of the questions above resonate for you, it is time to find healing. Experiencing pain in life is inevitable – being stuck in pain is not. Working through the root causes of your current struggles will allow you to experience joy and peace to a greater capacity. I am committed to partnering with clients to help them do just that.

These will include CBT, DBT or MI for behavioral focused problems, or trauma focused therapies like
EMDR
for working with the past, or Narrative Therapy to help understand and change how a person might be held back by biased or limited ways of seeing themselves or the world.
I work with people that are struggling with problems like anxiety, depression, trauma or substance use issues and want to make positive, lasting changes to themselves and their lives. Change can be really hard, and sustaining a change can be even more difficult - and to make it even more challenging, a person may not fully understand why they are struggling to begin with or why they can't just handle it themselves. This is where therapy can be very helpful. I can offer a trained and experienced perspective, as well as tools and skills to open up new and healthier ways of living, thinking and feeling.

Do you ever feel like whatever normal is, it just isn’t you? Do you feel like you need to diminish yourself in order to “get along”? Or maybe like you are always getting in your own way? I believe that people are on an ongoing journey of self-discovery and personal growth. My passion is to help you tune in to the “you” that feels most true, and practice living with intention. Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
