I also use CBT, DBT , and ACT and more to help you get to where you want to go.
Have you noticed you have been struggling to wake and feel confident about what’s ahead? Perhaps you feel no one else really understands? I want to help you on your path to discovering your values and how to achieve them. Life is not meant to be lived on the sidelines, you have everything inside of you to be the author of your life, and I can help you write the story the way YOU want it to be. I don’t think therapy must be a painful experience, or a last resort. Therapy can be something that can offer solutions for what you thought you, maybe, were the only one dealing with.

I utilize DBT , ACT, CBT, and solutions focus techniques to help aid my clients in managing stress and developing skills to live a happier, more fulfilled life.
I believe that people are the experts on themselves. However, they often need therapy to help aid them in discovering and changing the patterns in their life that continue to produce discomfort and/or unwanted outcomes. I have worked in the field of therapy for more than 11 years in a many different environments to include residential, forensics, inpatient, and outpatient settings. In these settings I gained experience in working with a variety of people focusing on different struggles to include depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, relationship issues, and other challenges.

By utilizing interventions rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, my goal is to enhance your overall quality of life.
I specialize in talk therapy for women, providing empathy and evidence-based techniques to guide you through tough times. As a therapist working with women, I aim to give compassion and evidence-based talk therapy to help guide them through dark or confusing periods. Assigning homework between sessions and working daily to develop new skills and positive habits is essential to achieve lasting change. Though the healing process can be uncomfortable and challenging, confronting difficult emotions and beliefs is necessary for personal growth and self-awareness.

For adolescents I often teach the tenets of DBT and coping skills.
Welcome and congrats on making the courageous decision to enlist some extra support and come into therapy. You may be looking for a therapist because of a crisis of some kind; a depression, a loss, anxiety, or trauma symptoms. I see crisis as an opportunity for growth and love being there for people in their time of greatest need. Crisis can be seen as an invitation to go inward and reflect on what is not working. As a trauma informed psychotherapist with a relational approach, I work collaboratively with clients to identify what is keeping you from living more fully so you can live a more integrated and healthier life.

The modalities most commonly used in my practice are CBT, DBT , and narrative therapy.
You are not defined by the struggles that are keeping you stuck. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other challenges take ahold of our lives and prevent us from reaching our full potential. We experience feelings of hopelessness that we cannot seem to shake. The concept of “self love” can be difficult to even imagine when we have created negative stories about ourselves. No matter what we do, happiness feels so far out of reach. Pain can lead us to isolate and accept the belief that we are alone and no one can help us.

I utilize a blend of EMDR, DBT , Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients develop the skills that they need to build confidence and positive self-awareness.
Our experiences impact who we are, the positive ones stay with us, but the negative ones stay with us as well. The relationships we have had throughout our lives are also deeply influential in shaping who we are and how we feel and behave in our current environment. Therapy gives us a deeper understanding of who we are and how our relationships and experiences have impacted us. Through a deeper awareness we have more control over how we'd like to show up in our lives. I specialize in Eating Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, ASD, anxiety and depression.

I use a variety of theories to provide the therapy most effective for you- Existential Theory, ACT, DBT , Attachment Theory, and more.
Have you ever felt alone, tokenized, or shamed for being "different"? After so many of these experiences, you start shaming yourself and doubting your worth. Shame is sneaky and it can cause destruction within ourselves. You may not fully believe that you’re lovable, but you want to get there one day. There are many societal forces that keep us from connecting with our inner selves and the world around us. I’m passionate about equipping folks with the tools to navigate racial trauma and the effects of colonialism. I can support you to embrace self-love & confidence by encouraging connection with your authentic self.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
