Our Counseling offers Certified Sex Addiction Therapy for both the Traumatized
Partner
and the Sex Addicted.
Tim is Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Many sex & pornography addicts and their partners say they have been to therapy, but it has not been helpful….until they have begun therapy with a CSAT(Certified Sex Addiction Therapist). Founded by Dr. Carnes the CSAT program was developed after years of extensive experience and research in the field of addiction therapy now considered the gold seal standard in sex and pornography addiction. The dynamics of behavioral addictions are complex; so much so that mental health professionals must take an entirely different approach to even begin the process of understanding addiction and recovery.

Life is full of challenges. I believe these challenges can also be stepping stones to our own personal growth. Whether stress from a job, a
relationship
issue or perhaps experiencing depression or anxiety, everyone deserves to have a non-judgmental, safe place to be able to talk. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I strive to make my office a comfortable environment where those "hard conversations" can happen, resulting in a deeper understanding of what roles we play in relationships as well as how our thoughts impact how we feel and act.

The lessons I absorbed through education have taught me the importance of being in an attuned
relationship
.
You are enough just as you are. I believe that wholeheartedly. I imagine you are here because you or someone in your life believes that it is possible to unlock more joy, security, love, connection, and/or peace. Most of our hurt comes through relationships and I believe that our healing will come in
relationship
- an intentional and open
relationship
as in a therapeutic
relationship
. If you are looking to improve your ability to be in
relationship
with yourself or loved ones, reach out to me for a free consultation. I am an expert at being with people, making space for them and their story, and working to accomplish their goals.

I specialize in working with adult individuals and
couples
, in addition to families.
I named my business Life Journey Counseling because I believe that we are all on a journey. We typically have ideas about where we are headed and how we will get there, but life often deals us something different...something we didn't plan for. How we handle that is the key to our own personal growth. I am inspired by the power of people to help themselves, but also a firm believer in the importance of having support and help when we need it. I help people through the therapeutic
relationship
we form to realize their full potential.

I can provide effective individual,
couples
, and family counseling and EMDR, CBT, SOMB, and Motivational Interviewing to help you clear away trauma memories and help you reach your goals.
Are you struggling with your relationships, depression, anxiety, and past trauma? Perhaps you have experienced sexual abuse in your past and you are having trouble with current relationships. Are you a juvenile who has committed a sexual offense? Counseling can help. I use EMDR, it is a type of therapy that can be done to address those memories and clear a path to a happier, healthier you. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a therapy that can help people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. Here is a link to a video to introduce you to EMDR: https://youtu.be/Pkfln-ZtWeY

relationship
between the therapist and client is the most important part of therapy.

I am here to welcome you with open arms and help you through the process of making changes in your life to feel better. I utilize an integrated approach pulling from a few therapeutic modalities. The main modalities I utilize are person centered approach, CBT and internal family systems.

This work is grounded in the knowledge that there is an integral
relationship
between the mind and the body; it is held together with the belief that we cannot heal one aspect without welcoming curiosity, growth, and awareness in the other area of ourselves as well.
Hi and welcome - Are you overwhelmed with emotions and feelings, and not sure how to process life experiences? You are already whole; together we can better explore how to support you or your kiddo, to live more comfortably in body and mind everyday. As a somatic psychotherapist, with specialized study in dance-movement therapy and yoga therapy, sessions will be co-created with a solution oriented approach to help you meet and understand your needs, wants and desires. Sessions may take on a more talk therapy based approach or include subtle movement.

It's so important to have someone to talk to - unfortunately we don't always have that opportunity. As a therapist, I strive to have my clients feel like they can be seen and heard in a comfortable and confidential setting. I use strengths-based, person-centered techniques to help my clients work towards self-awareness and personal growth.

It is important to feel ready and supported in the therapeutic
relationship
before starting, so we will spend time preparing for this work together.
We all have things in our lives that we wish hadn't happened. Challenges happen all the time, and they're part of what make us human. Those challenges can change how you view the world, and how you view yourself--sometimes in a way that makes it hard to respond the way you want to when new challenges arise. But you don't have to continue living under the weight of these difficulties. You have the capacity to adapt new information, and to gain new insights that help you to view your past and present differently. I believe that through the work and healing done in treatment, a better future can be created.

I am a relational-centered and compassion-focused sex therapist which means my approach with individuals and
couples
is to help you recognize the relational habits that shape your daily life and help you become aware of and understand how these habits and patterns impact the intimacy you have with yourself, others, and the world around you.
It’s easy to get stuck and confused about who you are and how to find meaning in life. Do you want to know yourself better? Would you like to explore the things impacting your relationships? Are you curious about the people, places, things, and experiences that helped define your thoughts, feelings, fantasies, and attractions? These conversations are complex and not often a prioritized part of life. Many have not found the words for these parts of themselves. We are often bound by cultural conditions, traumas, and obstacles that hold us back from connecting to an aliveness that promotes healing and moves us forward in life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
