It is important to feel ready and supported in the therapeutic
relationship
before starting, so we will spend time preparing for this work together.
We all have things in our lives that we wish hadn't happened. Challenges happen all the time, and they're part of what make us human. Those challenges can change how you view the world, and how you view yourself--sometimes in a way that makes it hard to respond the way you want to when new challenges arise. But you don't have to continue living under the weight of these difficulties. You have the capacity to adapt new information, and to gain new insights that help you to view your past and present differently. I believe that through the work and healing done in treatment, a better future can be created.

I will provide individual,
couples
and family therapy to anyone seeking guidance. Regardless of your concerns, I will provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment to address your needs so that you can find a new perspective that will help you. When I provide
couples counseling
I begin with learning about you as a couple why you were attracted to each other. Then we work together to figure out what got lost that brought you to seek out counseling. I am a Level 2 PACT therapist, based on the teachings of Dr. Stan Tatkin.

I specialize in sex therapy and
relationship
counseling, using the technique of Somatic Experiencing to address past trauma that may be impacting your present.
Do you feel unsatisfied in relationships? Not seen, heard, or understood? Have difficulty navigating intimacy and communication? Is your sex life a source of distress? Are you hard on yourself about not being able to do things differently? I believe lasting change requires more than just talk therapy. Many of our wounds are stored in the body and we must speak the language of the nervous system in order to understand and heal them. Our work will address symptoms and stuckness at this level, which has the power to rewire habitual responses that formed around early attachment difficulties or trauma throughout the lifespan.

Possibly you are a family member of an offender and you don't understand the "system" and how to help while taking care of yourself. Likely you are feeling isolated and alone. Overwhelming emotions may be paralyzing you, making it hard to move forward. You will find a safe place with me to move through and beyond this difficult time. You do not have to struggle alone.

I believe the
relationship
between the therapist and client is the most important part of therapy.
Life can be hard, and it can be easy to feel stuck, down, anxious, overwhelmed or many other emotions. It takes courage to acknowledge you aren't okay and could benefit from support. I am here to welcome you with open arms and help you through the process of making changes in your life to feel better. I utilize an integrated approach pulling from a few therapeutic modalities. The main modalities I utilize are person centered approach, CBT and internal family systems.

This work is grounded in the knowledge that there is an integral
relationship
between the mental body and physical body; it is held together with the belief that we cannot heal one aspect without welcoming curiosity, growth, and awareness in the other area of ourselves as well.
Hi and welcome - Are you overwhelmed with emotions and feelings, and not sure how to process life experiences? You are already whole; together we can better explore how to support you or your child, to live more comfortably in body, mind, (and spirit). Through greater awareness of self, and professional support one has the power to increase their sense of well-being. As a somatic psychotherapist, with specialized study in dance-movement therapy and yoga therapy, sessions will be co-created to best serve and honor you with where you are presently. Sessions may take on a more talk therapy based approach, or include movement.

I can provide effective individual,
couples
, and family counseling and EMDR, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing to help you clear away trauma memories and help you reach your goals.
Are you struggling with your relationships, depression, anxiety, and past trauma? Perhaps you have experienced sexual abuse in your past and you are having trouble with current relationships. Counseling can help. EMDR is a type of therapy that can be done to address those memories and clear a path to a happier, healthier you. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a therapy that can help people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. I am a relational-centered and compassion-focused sex therapist which means my approach with individuals and
couples
is to help you recognize the relational habits that shape your daily life and help you become aware of and understand how these habits and patterns impact the intimacy you have with yourself, others, and the world around you.
It’s easy to get stuck and confused about who you are and how to find meaning in life. Do you want to know yourself better? Would you like to explore the things impacting your relationships? Are you curious about the people, places, things, and experiences that helped define your thoughts, feelings, fantasies, and attractions? These conversations are complex and not often a prioritized part of life. Many have not found the words for these parts of themselves. We are often bound by cultural conditions, traumas, and obstacles that hold us back from connecting to an aliveness that promotes healing and moves us forward in life.

I work with individuals and
couples
/relationships that are struggling with managing emotions, changing behavior patterns, and navigating
relationship
difficulties.
Experiences of anxiety, depression, and trauma take a massive toll on our lives and relationships, often leaving us feeling out of control, disconnected, and dissatisfied. However, I believe that healing is not only possible, but is something that we are naturally moving toward, even when it doesn't feel that way. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can reconnect to that natural impulse toward healing.

Life does not always go according to plan. We experience many things that are outside of our control, but they leave a lasting impact on us as human beings. Life is a journey that is not meant to be walked alone, but instead in relationships and with vulnerability and openness. Therapy is an opportunity to build skills and resources to process and navigate life's everyday challenges. Asking for help and finding someone to share your burden with is a great show of strength and courage! For the quickest response please visit my web page and fill out a contact form.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
