We can work together to help you cultivate more loving and healthy relationships - by tapping into your own wisdom (which you may not even know you have !) relieving stress, & reducing
anxiety
and anger, so that you are truly living, loving, & thriving, not just “surviving”.
So happy to be back ! We all have what I call some ‘holes in the soul’ : hurts, regrets, anger from unmet needs that have occurred or resurfaced. If we go too much in the past, we are depressed; if too much in the future, we are anxious. Improving the quality of our lives is not just in ‘surviving’, but in working to move beyond it to LIVE, with better coping skills & relatedness, more awareness, yet balanced and at peace. It's SO about nurturance, trust, & connection !

Have you been experiencing issues with
anxiety
and depression? We all do occasionally, but when these issues feel unmanageable, I am here to help and support you. Examples of symptoms of
anxiety
can include intrusive thoughts, constant worrying, and physical sensations such as a racing heart. Depression can appear as sadness, decreased motivation, and sleep issues. Additionally, I treat individuals with substance use and self-esteem issues. Of course, not every individual experiences any these conditions the same way, so that is why I tailor the treatment to address each person in the way that is best suited for their unique needs.

Not afraid of humor as well as difficult feelings, I work with people who want to get back in touch with what's most important to them to feel more connected to themselves and others. I love helping people identify their "Why bother?" such as "Why bother with trying to work less, exercise more, drink or vape less, or feel difficult feelings more?" Negative thinking,
anxiety
, and increased drinking and other behaviors can be invitations to re-evaluate if you're pursuing the kind of life you desire. I'm here to help you get to the root of concerns, clarify your values, understand the purpose of barriers, and celebrate progress!

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
