I work with clients of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use issues, and with couples dealing with affairs.
Hello, I'm Deb. Life can be tough to navigate at times, especially when going through major life transitions. These things can greatly impact our well-being, especially if we do not have the proper tools to work through them. It can seem impossible to deal with these life stressors and escape from the overwhelming feelings that accompany them. I can help guide your mental health journey, and together we can learn how to manage the challenges life throws at you.

I provide therapeutic services to individuals fifteen and older who are experiencing various issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, mood instability, substance abuse, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties.
Why see a psychologist for therapy? Psychologists have more training in mental health than any other providers in the field. Because of this, I am trained in several different therapeutic approaches and do not utilize a 'one size fits all' model for treatment. I am most interested in what you would find helpful and am happy to tailor my approach to meet your needs, goals, and interests.

Life presents opportunities for change, and we all have the ability to grow from this change though self-discovery. I believe that although change is inevitable, it takes courage to be active in guiding change toward personal growth. My goal is to create an environment where real and sustained growth is possible.

Maybe you've been experiencing intrusive unwanted thoughts or impulses that are causing you a lot of anxiety or distress.
Sometimes you can manage it all by yourself. Sometimes your teen will quickly outgrow it. But, there are other times when you or your teen really could use some professional help. Whether it's distressing feelings or thoughts, difficult things that have happened, relationship problems, other stumbling blocks, or just a wish to change your life's course, we can figure it out together.

You deserve a space where you feel heard, understood, and truly supported as you navigate things like anxiety, trauma, or relationship challenges.
I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation. We'll go at your pace, celebrate small wins, and gently work through what's weighing on you. I'll help you build tools you can use between sessions, so progress continues long after we meet.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
