I use an eclectic approach including interpersonal therapy, aspects of CBT, ACT , EDMR, and EFT.
I see therapy as such a gift to oneself when trying to make sense of one's identity, relationships, and purpose in this world. My clinical focus is on helping people cope with depression, anxiety, and stress during life transitions to remind my clients of their strengths and how these strengths can help them not only cope, but also celebrate these new chapters in their lives. I have extensive experience in health related issues, acculturation stressors, and on parenting stressors. I strive to create a space of safety that helps my clients feel heard and understood. I am bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural (Ecuadorian descent).

My work is guided by my belief that counseling is a collaborative effort based on empathy and acceptance .
You want more from your life. People around you think you have it together and you have a great life. But they don’t know how anxious you feel, how much you drink or how you never feel good enough. It’s exhausting keeping it all together and it’s time for a change. Maybe you are questioning your drinking or you know something needs to shift because you feel disconnected from who you want to be. Whether you are a gray area drinker, taking a break from drinking or fully in recovery, you are welcome here. It's never too late to begin again!

I also use CBT, DBT, and ACT and more to help you get to where you want to go.
Have you noticed you have been struggling to wake and feel confident about what’s ahead? Perhaps you feel no one else really understands? I want to help you on your path to discovering your values and how to achieve them. Life is not meant to be lived on the sidelines, you have everything inside of you to be the author of your life, and I can help you write the story the way YOU want it to be. I don’t think therapy must be a painful experience, or a last resort. Therapy can be something that can offer solutions for what you thought you, maybe, were the only one dealing with.

I firmly believe that wherever you are in your life journey, you are capable of change, healing, and growth. Therapy can be the perfect vehicle for the change that you would like to create by providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment to connect and talk. Maybe you would like to experience more hopeful days, less stress, less anxiety, or more self- acceptance . You deserve healing, and you don't have to walk the path towards healing alone.

I utilize DBT, ACT , CBT, and solutions focus techniques to help aid my clients in managing stress and developing skills to live a happier, more fulfilled life.
I believe that people are the experts on themselves. However, they often need therapy to help aid them in discovering and changing the patterns in their life that continue to produce discomfort and/or unwanted outcomes. I have worked in the field of therapy for more than 11 years in a many different environments to include residential, forensics, inpatient, and outpatient settings. In these settings I gained experience in working with a variety of people focusing on different struggles to include depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, relationship issues, and other challenges.

I primarily practice through the lens of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I am passionate about helping others identify and build on strengths to live authentic, meaningful lives. I believe the therapeutic relationship is collaborative process in which you can safely explore and make sense of your inner most world. It is through this understanding that we begin to recognize and process patterns that no longer serve us and make small shifts towards rewriting our own stories.

You can be reassured that I provide a place of acceptance and support that feels safe and comfortable to explore your life, improve your relationships, and find hope for a stronger future.
Everyone has seasons in life where they are struggling and need help. I provide a supportive and nonjudgemental space to receive support and healing for anxiety, depression, life changes (such as divorce, birth, marriage, moving, new jobs), loss, trauma, emotional regulation, relationships problems and even general goal setting. I believe the key to life satisfaction is identifying your core values and then working to align your behaviors and decisions with those values.

I also have been trained in and utilize methods based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including specialized CBT training emphasizing Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as TF-CBT.
As a therapist, I extend compassion and curiosity to build an alliance with my clients aimed at fostering a sense of safety, create openness to cultivate an understanding of how their living has unfolded. I see therapy as a conduit for clients to explore, brainstorm, develop and practice adaptations that they can implement to build their quality of life. I work with clients spanning the entirety of the adult life cycle, from those new to adulthood through those who are seasoned.

Each stage of life presents us with its own distinct set of challenges and obstacles. I believe that when we learn how to properly direct our energies to meet and then overcome these challenges in our own unique way, we develop and mature towards greater well-being, growth, wholeness, and the freedom to be who we are. Sometimes it can feel too overwhelming, confusing, or painful to undertake such trials alone. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way. Seeking support is an act of courage and the first step towards creating the life you deserve.

I use a variety of theories to provide the therapy most effective for you- Existential Theory, ACT , DBT, Attachment Theory, and more.
Have you ever felt alone, tokenized, or shamed for being "different"? After so many of these experiences, you start shaming yourself and doubting your worth. Shame is sneaky and it can cause destruction within ourselves. You may not fully believe that you’re lovable, but you want to get there one day. There are many societal forces that keep us from connecting with our inner selves and the world around us. I’m passionate about equipping folks with the tools to navigate racial trauma and the effects of colonialism. I can support you to embrace self-love & confidence by encouraging connection with your authentic self.

I have dedicated my career to creating an environment that offers you full acceptance of who you are and compassion for what you are going through in life.
Have you ever felt like you weren't "good enough"? Do you find yourself thinking negatively about aspects of who you are? Does fear get in the way of getting what you want out of life? I hear you. Whether it's depression, anxiety, becoming a new parent, having relationship stress, perfectionism, or dealing with a loss, we all deserve a space to process our experience with someone we trust. We all deserve to feel supported and listened to by others while also uplifting ourselves through self-compassion and self-love.

My approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral. Strong evidence supports the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for helping individuals with a wide range of problems, including Depression, Anxiety and ADHD. I also incorporate the use of other therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment, Relational, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic Therapy. My initial goal is to create a safe therapeutic environment. I work with clients to reach an agreement on the goals. As therapy proceeds, we will evaluate progress toward those goals and work together to make therapy as effective for you as possible.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
