You understand your patterns intellectually, but shifting them in real life feels impossible. You feel like you keep reacting in ways you don’t fully understand shutting down, overexplaining, people-pleasing, or pulling away even when you genuinely want to respond differently. Small things trigger big emotions, and you can go from calm to overwhelmed in seconds. In your relationship, the same fight keeps resurfacing with different details, escalating quickly until neither of you feels heard or understood.

You may be reaching out because the systems and skills that used to work for you don’t anymore. Maybe you’ve tried therapy, read the books, or built routines and coping strategies, but you’re still exhausted and overwhelmed. You might live with ADHD, OCD, perfectionism, anxiety, or complex trauma, and feel tired of managing everything on your own while appearing “fine” to others.
I also work as a sex-positive therapist with people in kink, BDSM, polyamorous, and other non-traditional relationships.

You look like you have it together: bills paid, people depending on you, your goals are checked off. But inside, you’re exhausted, anxious, resentful, and tired of overthinking every decision. You’ve tried doing the “right” things, but life still feels heavier than it should.

Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns they don't fully understand. You may be navigating a difficult life transition, carrying the weight of past trauma, struggling with relationships, or trying to manage emotions that feel intense or hard to control. Over time, ignoring your needs or pushing through can start to take a toll on physical and mental health.

Life is full of demands—work, relationships, parenting—and it’s easy to lose connection with yourself and what truly matters. You may feel pulled into the past, worried about the future, or simply overwhelmed, making it hard to be present or enjoy life.
I help people reconnect with themselves, manage stress, and move toward their full potential in relationships, careers, and inner life. Therapy, to me, is not just about coping but growing—developing insight, clarifying values, and building skills that support real, lasting change.

In my decade of experience, I have worked with various concerns. I believe that we develop through life experiences, from traumatic moments to everyday choices, and to feel whole, we need to examine the different parts of ourselves. I concentrate on these aspects by exploring how you create and narrate your life story. I am passionate about working with teens and young adults; however, I am also confident in working with individuals in all stages of life. Additionally, I recognize the impact of trauma in these narratives and believe in the importance of healing from that trauma.

Our bodies are always trying to communicate with us. For many valid and protective reasons, we may tune out what we feel emotionally and somatically. It may be helpful to explore where the achy muscle tension, sweaty palms, dry throat, floaty feelings, tightness in the chest, and racing heart originates from. My name is Lourdes "Janet" Camacho and I have been a practicing therapist since 2015. I work women looking to heal from trauma and adverse life events that occurred in the past and impacts current functioning.

I specialize in supporting therapists, healing professionals, caregivers, and clients navigating burnout, perfectionism, compassion fatigue, and maladaptive behaviors rooted in shame.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the legal and human resources fields, where I witnessed and experienced the toll of high-pressure, workaholic, and perfectionistic standards. With over 25 years of professional experience — including the past 11 years as a clinician — I now offer a restorative, integrative space that gives you choices in the therapy room — to work with whatever feels right for you in the moment.

I use EMDR and IFS, evidenced based orientations that are proven to create lasting change.
Therapy sucks. It's expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable - who wants to share their dark thoughts and feelings with a stranger? If you are here now, you must be struggling and unsure - but there is a part of you that knows you could use some guidance. It's not weak to seek help, but finding the right person is overwhelming and exhausting, and it's possible that you've landed in the right place. I treat anxiety, depression and trauma and do so in a structured, effective way with experience, kindness and humor. I know that change is hard, but finding the right person to walk with you is the first step on this journey.

Navigating this thing called life can be brutal. We are constantly faced with hardships, discrimination, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, family concerns and trauma. Often we may experience many of these things at once, or things I haven't even listed. Sometimes we're just looking to feel more comfortable with ourselves and the way we think, feel, love, or express our gender. Sometimes we're just trying to figure out how to move through the past and things that have happened to us, yet can't seem to shake the sadness, the anger, or the fear from those experiences.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
