Is it hard to imagine getting through a whole day without anxiety, negative self-talk, feelings of low self-esteem or overwhelm? If so, you're in the right place! I am a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and I specialize in creating a warm, accepting, and healing space for adults navigating anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, adhd, and grief. This is a space where tears, authenticity, frustrations, vulnerability, and humor co-exist. A space where you're encouraged to be unapologetically yourself and explore what exactly that means.

The therapy process can help you to develop a deeper connection to your true feelings, more authentic communication, healthier and more satisfying relationships, a clearer path through life, and a sense of being more "yourself". I take an eclectic approach, using talk therapy, dreamwork/play, creative expression, insight into family relationships, and exploring beliefs developed in childhood and the ways that they influence your current patterns and choices.

I am a trauma therapist who is informed by IFS (Internal Family Systems). My clients tend to have struggles with attachment wounds, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, low self-esteem, perfectionism, or stress. You might struggle with asking for what you want, sharing how you feel, or saying no in relationships. Maybe you use food, alcohol, cannabis, exercise, or Netflix as a way to escape the present moment. You may spend lots of time in your head, but don't know how to feel your emotions. You crave closeness with others, but also fear it. Maybe you have body image issues.

Are you ready to overcome the belief that something is wrong with you? Do you struggle with: low self-esteem, dis-empowerment, creating healthy relationships, setting boundaries, self-compassion, or self-care? These issues are common in our society today- there is a collective belief that somehow, no matter what we do, we are intrinsically flawed or broken. We have traded the sacred truth of our own experience for self-aggression, self-judgment, and self-loathing, and we feel miserable.

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. I know it isn’t easy to look for a therapist, and it can even feel scary to take that beginning step of seeking therapy. Therapy is helpful for healing emotional and relational wounds, increasing self-awareness, building skills and resources, and increasing clarity when you are feeling stuck and things look hopeless. Therapy is also helpful when you just want to stretch yourself to grow beyond old patterns and what feels familiar but no longer brings you joy, or when the familiar is costing you too much. You are starting something courageous by choosing change, and you don't have to do it alone.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
