My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in the psychology of Carl Jung, developmental theory, and psychodynamic theory.
I am interested in working with a person who is committed to understanding and undertaking the therapeutic process. This looks like a willingness to be vulnerable and honest, to dig deep into the state of their mind and body and address the traumas that they may be holding, and ultimately to develop a relationship with me that can facilitate their healing. I specialize in eating disorders, depression, anxiety, family and relational conflicts, and women's issues.

I draw from depth psychology, psychodynamic , humanistic, transpersonal and existential theories to inform my work.
As your therapist I will work hard to provide you with the tools to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. Unlocking your potential will be our primary aim along with developing an awareness of how we create our own blocks. You will also work towards becoming more yourself as strange as that may sound! This involves getting in touch with your own psyche to discover, or rediscover, what makes you tick. It can be an incredibly rewarding process.

I have a particular interest in working with adults and adolescents struggling with eating disorders, self-image, anxiety, mood disorders, abuse and/or relational problems. I take a psychodynamic approach to psychotherapy.
I consider my role as a psychologist to be one of great privilege. As I journey with others through the issues that have brought them to therapy, I often feel invited into sacred spaces, filled with suffering, pain, confusion, or one’s deepest longings of the heart. It is in these sacred spaces that there is also opportunity for change, for hope, for healing. My hope is that through the process of psychotherapy people will come to experience greater freedom and vitality, deeper capacities for love and creativity, and more meaningful and redemptive relationships.

I draw from many theoretical orientations but I have a psychodynamic /psychoanalytic bent.
Struggling through emotional difficulties can feel overwhelming. Friends and family may not have the tools to help you get your life back on track. Coming to therapy is a tremendous step to facilitate change. I provide an empathic and understanding environment to help clients work through their problems. I believe that a genuine and real connection between therapist and client is a key component of the therapeutic process. My belief is that in order to change oneself, a fuller understanding of oneself must occur. Working together, we can explore issues and meet your counseling needs.

I offer in-person and/or on-line psychoanalytic/ psychodynamic psychotherapy. My approach aims to resolve longstanding patterns that keep clients from embodying their potential, preventing their ability to meet novelty flexibly, to be in relationships, to parent effectively, or to look creatively towards a future. Sometimes our psychological, spiritual, physiologic, relational and creative resources are depleted or undeveloped. My intention is to help access these resources, whether my clients are looking for supportive psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, or wanting to take a deeper look inside with psychoanalysis.

With my abilities rooted in empathy, flexibility and creativity, my practice is highly integrative, trauma informed, and based in relational, psychodynamic , and client-centered approaches.
If you struggle with mastering your circumstances, they may end up mastering you. This is a reality we all face, but the time and effort required to do so can be overwhelming. My experience is centered around neurodivergent populations who struggle with anxiety and executive functioning. I view each client with holistic, person-centered views of a unique and complex individual rather than just a diagnosis. As an abstract thinker, I specialize in helping you tie the pieces together in a new, autonomous and empowering way. I strive to be genuine and collaborative in sessions-- come talk to me about anything, I would love to listen!

I utilize a psychodynamic lens and incorporate techniques including art therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR and DBT.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that relationships heal, and that our earliest relationships are a blueprint for how we relate to ourselves and the world in adulthood. I take a warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental approach in the therapeutic relationship to cultivate a safe space to explore and be curious about our relational wounds. I value the opportunity psychotherapy provides for individuals to take agency over the narrative that has guided their life and make meaning in a way that feels personally valuable to them.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
