I work with people ready to make meaningful change, using therapy as a catalyst for growth - moving from unnecessary suffering into real freedom and empowerment. My approach is informed by contemplative and nondual frameworks. I support those facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship or career challenges, and those exploring spirituality, purpose, self-actualization, and self-sabotage. Therapy is collaborative: together we clarify what matters most, build skills, and heal old wounds according to your wants and needs. Everyone carries the keys to their own growth; my role is to help you find and use them.

The breakdown is the final stage of your breakthrough. Where things stagnate, we will find movement. When everything is chaos, we settle into the eye of the storm. Our power is truly forged from hardship, but without guidance, we can struggle to hone our edge. You are not your setbacks, you are that which overcomes them. My approach is an intersection of wilderness therapy, Daoist philosophy, trauma-informed mindfulness, psychedelia, tea ceremony, dark existential humor, and dozens of research-backed techniques and theory.

Most clients come in with concerns about feeling stuck or having a lack of connection or purpose in life. Trauma, grief, and major life changes can create patterns of thought and behavior that impact our quality of life as we try to cope with our emotions. My goal is to help clients work through these patterns by developing skills for self-regulation, awareness, and motivation, breaking the cycle and finding freedom to live the lives we all deserve.

As your therapist I will work hard to provide you with the tools to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. Unlocking your potential will be our primary aim along with developing an awareness of how we create our own blocks. You will also work towards becoming more yourself as strange as that may sound! This involves getting more in touch with your own psyche, which can be an incredibly rewarding process. I am currently in training as a Jungian analyst candidate and so will be inviting you to bring dream material into sessions.

As a Chicano therapist I am developing a double consciousness to see the world from a decolonized perspective, along with living in a system not meant for us. Many clients carry a quiet weight, a sense that some part of you is unheard, perhaps even within yourself. I know what it's like to hold it all in until your body speaks for you. The most difficult part is asking for help, I commend you on starting your journey here and I am here to make sure that it is meaningful for you.

Ever feel like there is more to this life than the one you've been living? As someone who has felt the gravity and darkness of untapped potential I know what's it's like to be living a life we don't love. The clues are within the depression and/or anxiety - these are our body's brilliantly sane ways of saying "pay attention!" Anyone can have a life that is full of passion, richness, purpose, and they feel joyfully proud to be living. It will take vulnerability, bravery, sacrifices, and perhaps some help to get this life that you love. I'd be deeply honored to be the gentle and firm guide you need to help you create this life.

Hello, friend! I’m glad you’ve found this site. Regardless of what brought you here, I’m a firm believer that everyone could benefit from therapy just by the nature of being human in 2026. I’ve been walking with people on the path of radical self-change for over a decade as a professor in bachelor’s and master’s degrees that specialize in transformational educational experiences. It has been my experience, and it is my belief that disconnection is at the source of most of our struggles—disconnection from ourselves, from those we love, from nature, and from meaning and purpose.

I’m James “Raven” Miller, LPC. Many seek therapy when the household of their life feels unsettled—when anxiety, grief, or disconnection rattle the walls. For over twenty years, I’ve sat with people in these thresholds. My approach, rooted in contemplative psychotherapy and mindfulness, is less about repair and more about listening for the deeper architecture of your being. Together, we trace the patterns that shape your days and begin to rebuild a steadier dwelling of presence, resilience, and meaning.

I am a body-based (somatic) trained psychotherapist and integrate client-centered talk therapy in my work. Client-centered therapy is based on the conviction that every person has the innate capacity to find within themselves the solutions to their challenges and the power to self-regulate difficult emotions. The therapist's job is to foster a trusting and honest relationship that helps a client to relax. When relaxed, one naturally becomes more curious and open, which is a pre-condition for moving into a psychological space where positive shifts can occur.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
