Many of the people I work with feel stuck in recurring patterns—whether that shows up as anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, relationship challenges, difficulty setting boundaries, perfectionism or uncertainty about the future. My work is grounded in depth psychology, which recognizes that unconscious beliefs, emotional wounds, and early experiences can influence how we relate to ourselves and others. Through greater awareness and understanding, these patterns can begin to shift. I draw on over 4,000 hours of experience as a professional life coach, and help clients both heal the past and consciously create the future they want to live.

You might be someone who has been through something hard and haven't quite felt like yourself since. Or maybe you've always known your brain is wired in a way the world doesn't always make room for, and you're exhausted from masking, overcompensating, and falling through the cracks. Either way, you're ready for something to actually change. You want to feel calmer, more in control, and like your daily life isn't such a fight. You want real tools, a real plan, and someone who gets it.

Breaking through the barriers. What keeps you from true happiness and living the life you truly love? Perhaps you are in an unfulfilling intimate relationship that is not meeting your needs, or you desire a long-term meaningful partnership but keep finding that area to be a struggle. Are friendships and community challenging? Is your relationship with your family or particular family members in conflict? Often it is a need to learn to cope with difficult emotions such as anxiety and fears, negative thinking or challenging relationships that keep you from experiencing a life of joy and happiness.

When you imagine a time when you felt at your best, what comes to mind for you? Perhaps, a time when you stood up for something important to you? Or, a time when you felt synchrony between your mind, your body, and your heart? Maybe you've experienced lots of moments when you felt like you could engage with the world in a meaningful way, and during that time you - just for a moment - lost track of the 'stuff' you usually carry along with you? Changes are, these experiences in your life are not entirely due to chance or circumstance... but rather, due to your mindset, your habits, and your relationships.

I became a therapist because I believe we all deserve a place where our messy, complicated, tender selves are welcome. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and a little lighter than when you arrived. I help people understand themselves in love and relationships—whether breakups, dating, marriage decisions, or moving on after divorce. I also help people move past anxiety and trauma to experience more authentic connection in life. More than anything, I want you to know you already have what you need to heal—I’m here to help you trust it.

You're struggling to show up the way you want. With your partner, your family, at work, or with friends. You know what you want, but things never end up the way you want them to. You’re longing to feel less alone, more at peace, more authentic, or more alive. I'm Jonathan, and I work with individuals, relationships, and families that are ready to break the pattern of stuckness; folks who are tired of holding it all alone, and ready to unpack the baggage they've carried for too long. Whether you're carrying complex trauma, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or disconnection from yourself or others, we'll face it together.

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
