I practice as a contemplative psychotherapist. I believe in the basic goodness of all people and join together with clients to reconnect that basic goodness back into their conscious life. I assist individuals, couples, families, and groups in finding their next steps. I know that transformation is possible and healing can take place even under the most dire situations, feelings, and ways we are conditioned to think and act. I am slow paced and create an atmosphere of warmth, trust, and safety. I am available mornings, late afternoon and early evenings Monday through Thursday.

Gestalt is the main practice I pull from which encompasses many possibilities.
The relationships we have with the world and ourselves paint the picture of our everyday experience. Together, we move towards healthy attachment via creativity, honesty, and acceptance – discovering freedom and choice in dimensions of life where you may have previously believed there was none. Together we will slowly wander towards a deeper sense of self – maintaining curiosity and compassion at the core of our work. We will explore nature based interactions, somatic experience, myth & story, mindfulness, transpersonal invitations, playfulness, humor, and other creative and dynamic exchanges.

I use a mixture of somatic therapy, gestalt, an emotional-focused approach, and some cognitive therapy.
Trauma Therapist - Accepting Medicaid. Hi there! Do you struggle with relating? Do you feel misunderstood as a child? Do you have a complicated relationship with your family? Did your upbringing - religion, culture, and family - prevent you from being who you are? When we see the harm and violence being done in our past, we want to stop the cycle. It takes courage to challenge our traumas and become the person who relates healthily. I am here to support you on that journey. Together, we will grieve what is lost and rebuild who you are.

Your relationship needs to change. But you’re at a loss for how to actually make that happen. Between balancing work, life, and parenting, there’s barely any time for healthy communication, much less nourishing time together. In order to keep the peace, you give up on some of your important needs. And then, distance sets in. If this is your experience right now, you are not alone! We all need support to navigate the challenges couples are dealing with today. There’s more stress and higher expectations than ever on our relationships. Yet there are simple, powerful practices that build intimacy and connection in a hurry (and that are

Challenges are essential to growth. We all face challenges. The various challenges, crises, traumas we all inevitably encounter can create anxiety, depression, and disconnection. Unfortunately, labels and diagnoses can stop you from seeing that you are okay. As you are. Your felt experiences of hurt, when processed deeply, actually lead to self-discovery. Seeking help doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily wrong. In fact, expertise can guide you through these moments safely. Through somatic healing therapy, individuals and couples will find inner strength to start anew.

I'm passionate about helping clients recover from childhood trauma, move beyond substance addiction, find new ways of relating to themselves and the world, and explore their humanness and spiritual selves as they grow towards fulfilling life-long pursuits or desires. My work with clients is direct and compassionate, oriented towards the relational and existential aspects of Life, and also mindfulness-based. Let's look at and move through the barriers preventing your full engagement in Life and its desirable pursuits. Old stories about self need no longer hold you back.

IFS, MBCT, PACT and Gestalt are techniques I use often.
I specialize working neurodivergence, particularly ADHD, and Couples. People who are succeeding by most measures, are capable, self-aware, yet struggling and keep hitting the same walls. Couples who love each other, but seem to have lost their connection and want their spark back. I also teach at Naropa University's Graduate School of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Psychology where I help train new therapists. My clients tend to be thoughtful people who want more than symptom management. They're asking deeper questions about who they are and what they want. If you are willing to do the work, we are a good fit.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
