I have extensive experience working with diverse populations in psychiatric hospitals, adolescent residential treatment programs, the juvenile criminal justice system, young adult transitional programs, family systems and private practice.
As a psychotherapist with 28 years of experience, I approach therapy from an empathic relational orientation. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive and other self destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns.

Treatment Approaches used include: 1) EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), 2) EMDR-level 1 & 2, 3) Family Systems, 4) Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, 5) Psychodynamic.
Unique to my practice is my ability to mirror your innate wisdom. With this relational focus, whether you are coming in for individual or couples therapy, you'll begin to work through issues, and increase your confidence while doing so. I hold a safe space that is conducive to exploring those scary and sometimes dark places that we fear, like broken heartedness, and come out the other side with tenderness, wisdom, & contentment.

Kairos Wellness Collective features diverse modalities including acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), Yoga Therapy, Play Therapy, Forest Bathing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family Therapy .
Each client has their own unique struggles and a distinct road to recovery. Rather than ask our clients to bounce around individual offices for their care, our center aims to bring practitioners together in a holistic space that both honors client confidentiality but also streamlines communication between practitioners by using shared health records software. Client care specialists take baseline assessments of OCD upon intake into the collective, and every two months, our specialists will continue to assess measurable progress in the treatment of OCD and anxiety.

I draw on my experiences as a contemplative, somatic, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, art educator, mother to support people on their unique journeys toward recovery & healing.
Would you like to awaken your inner strength to set clear boundaries? Change adverse patterns that persistently arise in relationships? Ease your heart’s longing to belong? Engage transitions thoughtfully? Embrace a greater sense of connection & well-being? Be more kindhearted with yourself & loved ones? Support your child living a more joyful life? These aspirations are natural, indicating a courageous readiness to reach a fuller potential and greater well-being. Adults express themselves through stories; children through play. Words & play activate the nervous & neural systems allowing access to emotions, thoughts, & sensations.

In my work with teens and adults I utilize an Internal Family Systems Model with a present-focused relational lens.
I feel passionately about working with the range of human experience. In working with children I feel that parent involvement is crucial for the success of therapy. I'm aware that parenting is extremely difficult and I aspire to support parents in that. I enjoy working with parents who are open to working on the way that their own struggles impact their ability to parent compassionately and effectively. Many of the teens and adults I work with are looking to heal from developmental trauma. Symptoms which stem from childhood trauma can present in numerous ways such as: depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, etc.

Relationships surface our deepest wounds and can offer us our greatest opportunities for growth. Life can happen haphazardly, with real difficulties and with little time to develop understanding. With careful attention and support, reconnecting with felt experience can assemble new meaning and invite change to relationships - to ourselves, others, our family systems and lineages, our work and callings, and the natural world. I value transformational therapy that’s collaborative and client-centered, allowing for trust to build as we gradually open to the more challenging aspects of your past and present relational experiences.

Throughout my professional education, I have sought additional training and experience with: Military members and families, trauma-informed therapy, both religious and secular individuals, traditional and non-traditional family structures, couples therapy, non-monogamous and polyamorous structures, LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, and kink-informed therapy.
I believe that life can be difficult sometimes. We are not given a manual on navigating the complex tasks of life like raising children, managing job stress, or learning how to have a fulfilling relationship. I see counseling as a process where we can explore life's more pressing questions and address ways to create change. As a therapist, you will find I value being real and transparent so that our work together is honest, timely, and impactful.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
