During times of significant transition or stress, such as a big move, divorce, loss of a loved one, a career change, or relational challenges, therapy can be very useful. Sometimes, individuals seek out therapy as a way to develop strategies for personal growth, life skills, and or improved interpersonal communication. Other times, my clients choose to work on a long-standing mental health struggle such as depression, anxiety, addiction, or grief and loss. Therapy is right for anyone who has a desire to learn more about themselves and make positive changes in their wellness, relationships, or daily life.

Nothing seems to be working. You feel stuck and hopeless. You survived a not-so-great childhood (maybe a bad one)…but even now that you're on your own, things don't seem to be falling into place. You don't feel good about yourself no matter what you do (you might be successful and hard-working), and you either avoid or seem to choose the wrong relationships (or they're so stressful). Things may be falling apart... or maybe they have always felt broken. And.... you have headaches, back problems, or a condition that doesn't respond to treatment. All of it makes it hard to wake up without feeling overwhelmed and hopeless... exhausted.

The human brain is a remarkable machine. It can solve complex problems, imagine the future, and recall embarrassing things you said in 2011 in excruciating detail. It’s also quite brilliant at creating problems and adopting habits that make life easier…at first. Avoid pain. Control discomfort. Reduce risk. Play it safe. But over time, those habits quietly make life smaller often without us seeing it. When these patterns begin organizing your life, it can help to step back and look at what the brain is doing (and why), how behavior preserves those patterns, and what becomes possible when two people think through it together.

Are you struggling to feel at home in your identity? You may be carrying stories about who you are supposed to be- shaped by family, culture, religion, or political climate that rarely make room for marginalized experiences. I combine clinical evidence-based approach with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive modality in order to help individuals reclaim and empower their own narratives.
I work with queer and trans individuals across lifespan who are exploring gender and sexual identity, healing generational trauma, navigating eating disorders, exploring neurodivergence, and managing political anxiety and chronic disability.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or numb, you may notice a quiet question in the background: “Is this just how life is now?” And as you read this, you might already sense a part of you hoping for something different. In our work, we’ll make sense of the patterns that repeat in your life and relationships. We’ll identify the inner responses that show up. As we notice patterns, you begin to separate from them, so they become something you can work with, not something that runs you. You’ll learn to track what happens for you, use practical tools to shift states, regulate your body, and choose your next step.

Together, we will create goals and interventions that work for you! I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, addiction, and more by blending cognitive therapies with Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic practices.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.
Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.
How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.
What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
