Most people who find their way to therapy aren't falling apart, though some days it can feel that way. There's often just a gap between how things look and how things feel. Maybe you've gotten good at pushing through… carrying anxiety, shame, or exhaustion that lives more in your body than your mind. Or maybe you feel everything, deeply, and haven't always had a safe place to land. Either way, something keeps surfacing. And part of you is ready to find out what it is.

Welcome! Somatic counseling is based on the idea that the mind and body are interconnected and that physical sensations, movements, and posture can offer valuable insights into emotional and psychological states. Movements can help with a variety of things from releasing trauma to relaxation. When seeking therapy, it's helpful to understand the distinction between approaches that emphasize the body (embodied) and those that are primarily talk-based. Embodied therapies, like somatic psychotherapy, focus on physical sensations, movement, yoga, meditation, and the body's role in processing emotions and trauma.

I provide neuropsychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults in Colorado.
Many of the people I work with have concerns that are harder to sort out due to medical history, mental health, neurological factors, or hormonal changes like perimenopause. I help clarify how these factors affect attention, learning, social interactions, and daily life.

Carl Rogers said, when we accept ourselves as we are, then we can change. Focusing on the individual and their unique capability toward healing is the guiding approach I take in therapy. I work with great curiosity to explore the distractions and negative cycles that may be keeping you stuck. The struggle for clarity is a difficult one to navigate in isolation; together we can look at patterns and behaviors that no longer service you. The therapeutic process is one of finding balance between the emotional and rational, the mind and body and bringing that forward into our lives.

The children I work with tend to struggle with emotion regulation.
I approach the therapy process through a somatic lens and help clients connect to their present moment experience. I use IFS to support my clients to love all the protective and hurt parts of themselves. My therapeutic style is warm, authentic, and empathic. I bring my full self into the therapeutic relationship, flaws and all.

My services are trauma informed and shaped by my progressive humanist worldview that connects history and culture to mental health challenges.

Specializing in Teens & Young Adults: However isolated they appear I hold a strong belief that teens and young adults truly seek connection, though their emotional and behavioral struggles have been impacted by family influences. To fully support this population in reaching their potential, their challenges will need to be looked upon in the context of family, so to identify how such strife continues to be reinforced. This systemic approach to therapy paves the way for greatest insight to be gained by those who really matter, allowing for symptom reduction and ultimately greater relational harmony.

Andy offers individual therapy for adults and teens as well as play therapy for children.
Intimate relationship intensifies our human experience by bringing our "attachment system" into the foreground. Intimacy can elicit intense emotions that are less accessible in friendships or work relationships. Abandonment, rejection, and neglect are potent feelings we risk when we enter into intimacy.

I love working with teenagers, children and adults, and using art and talk therapy to illuminate what needs attention and attunement within the system or the individual.
Adolescents are forming their identities and beginning to individuate from their parents. Their brains are quite literally "pruning," or deciding which neuropathways to keep and which to let go of. This makes it an especially important time to support them and offer sustained attention to their ever-changing internal world.

Being human is beautiful, weird, and sometimes really, really hard. Most of us will experience loss, anxiety, heartbreak, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity struggles, or seasons where we simply feel stuck. You don't have to figure it all out alone. I believe you already hold the wisdom needed to build a happy, meaningful, and resilient life. My role is to help you reconnect with what's already within you. Whether we're sitting in the office, online, or walking the trails in Boulder, we'll laugh, cry, celebrate your wins, get curious together, and create space for healing and growth.
