I specialize in working with adult clients who deal with attachment issues, depression, trauma, anger , anxiety, grief/loss, and relationship issues.
Starting an inner journey on a path to self-healing and understanding can seem like a daunting task. It can be confusing, often goes against logic, and opens us up to the very things that caused us to retreat from a full life in the first place. I understand the trepidation that comes from starting on such a journey and the various obstacles that arise during this exploration. This journey does not have to be taken alone.

Let’s be real. These are dark times, and uncertainty abounds. Old wounds may be coming to the surface, and the thought of facing them may feel downright terrifying……It IS terrifying. I believe that these moments are opportunities for us to learn, accept, and grow in our capacity to be Compassionate with ourselves, and with one another. This is how Transformational Healing occurs. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger issues, relationships with substances, or existential dread (perhaps all the above), YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I draw from knowledge and skills within a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic modalities (DBT, CBT, SFBT, MI, MBCT) to support preteens, teens, and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, lack of motivation, anger , chronic illness, OCD, and neurodiversity.
Life can present challenges that are difficult to navigate alone; our experiences and relationships, as well as our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors may inhibit us from living and feeling the way we would like to! I aim to support people in navigating life's challenges through providing a warm and caring space for introspection and growth. I create this space by providing genuine empathy, useful education, and appropriate challenges to the people I work with to support them to build towards living their best life.

As a Somatic Counselor, I work from an understanding of how our thoughts and emotions are necessarily intertwined with our body - internally with brain wiring and externally through behaviors that communicate when words do not. My focus is challenging emotional states and helping adults, partners, and families resolve what the resulting behaviors may be trying to communicate. Specifically, I work with anxiety/ptsd, depression, anger , health crises/fear of death or abandonment, low self-esteem, and grief. Together we choose methods that feel like a fit to meet your circumstance. Ultimately, the goal is empowerment.

Working with couples & helping people understand suppressed anger , IE "I never get angry", are two other specialty areas of my practice.
We'll figure this out together! Get back to baseline and begin to build the life you want to live. I'll help you learn to use your body as a resource for your mind. Beginning with simple breathing techniques & physical movements to aid in emotional management & reduction of stress, anxiety, & depression. For those who are ready, we will do the deeper work of releasing unprocessed emotions & old storylines that may be silently running your life in the background. Thus transforming hardships into wisdom & personal power to propel your life forward in whatever direction you choose.

The inside of your head is a battlefield. Stressful thoughts surround you on all sides. Painful memories cling to you and still fill you with all those old emotions at the least convenient times. Anxiety tries to scare you away from moving towards what matters most to you. Depression saps your energy, motivation, and sense of purpose. Anger flares out of control and leads you to do or say things you regret later. A coping mechanism offers you temporary relief, but ultimately leaves you feeling worse than before. Worst of all, your inner critic tells you that you deserve all this suffering.

I have worked with adults and adolescents for 30 years to overcome depression, anxiety, anger , stress, relationship conflicts, ADD, addictions, workplace, and motivation problems. I am a very interactive, direct (often with humor) and solution focused therapist who challenges clients to instigate the change they want to see. I help clients develop skills in approaching discomfort rather than avoiding. Using cognitive strategies, I can help you change negative thinking to positive. I help clients express their healthiest emotions rather than using emotions to defend or manipulate. I encourage exercise and mindfulness.

I concentrate on grief, behavioral problems, anger management and sexual and physical abuse.
I specialize in working with children, teenagers and families. I have advanced training in Play Therapy, Equine Therapy and Wilderness Therapy. A lot of children can struggle with experiences in life. Sometimes something specific happens and your child might need support expressing themselves appropriately. Other times your child might struggle with more general behavioral issues. Needing help is normal and I have helped many children and teens move through difficult experiences and behaviors to a place of stability and balance.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
