As a somatic and trauma based therapist with additional training in SE, EMDR and PACT Couple Therapy our work will go beyond talk therapy with a body- and experiential-based approach that helps develop congruency with your inner and outer world.
There is hope. Feeling stuck, pain, or discomfort is a natural part of being human, but the pain doesn't have to control your daily life. The challenges you face may stem from trauma , addiction, anxiety, or the struggle to make a relationship succeed. I am a body-centered psychotherapist interested in your well-being and in helping you understand the source of your pain. I would like to get to know you and provide a space where you can show up just as you are; where transformation and healing can take place. Together we will help you embody your strengths and internal wisdom to break unhealthy patterns and help you move forward.

SPIRITUALITY + THE NERVOUS SYSTEM | I take a mind-body-spirit approach to therapy. I believe we all have the innate capacity for healing, and by following the body's cues, it will show us how to do just that. I like to work with the nervous system: through big-T Traumas a little-t traumas, many of us are not as regulated as we could be. Reasons to work with me may include depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship difficulties, spiritual emergency, insomnia, trauma , autoimmune issues, self-esteem, clarity of purpose, and deepening connection to yourself.

I work primarily with complex trauma , with clients who are experiencing anxiety, with people struggling with depression, and those struggling in relationships.
If you are ready for real change in your life and are tired of being stuck in the same routine, same fears, or same unhelpful thought patterns, then we will work very well together. Many of the clients who see me for therapy have experienced excessive worry and hyper-vigilance, racial trauma , hopelessness, suffered from the aftereffects of a traumatic event, or have had difficulty connecting in relationships with others.

Too few of us have had support in accessing the nourishment of our own depth. We all hold the innate capacity to know and move from our depth, but sometimes we need help to parse out what on earth depth even means and how to safely relate to it. Together, we'll honor the complex mixture of the external and internal - ranging from family of origin, social locations, cultural experiences, form and formless - that fashion how you relate to yourself and ways you show up in the world. I offer a warm, steadfast space in which to work with trauma , anxiety and depression, life transitions, spirituality, creativity, and relationships.

I take a trauma sensitive, strength-based, existential, and compassionate approach to therapy.
Psychology is derived from the Greek word psyche, meaning soul, and logos, meaning knowledge. Understanding this, I see therapy as an ongoing soulful opportunity for Self discovery. No matter your background, I show up with an authentic optimism, knowing you have a wealth of wisdom within you. I create a non-judgmental space for clients to feel seen, heard, and met with kindness through their life challenges. I guide those who seek healing in trauma , depression, anxiety, self-esteem, addiction, relationships, and spirituality. I help people reclaim joy & health with an open curiosity towards the dynamics that make up their lives.

Feeling overwhelmed from depression, PTSD or anxiety can negatively affect your job, your confidence and your ability to be present on a daily basis. You might be thinking - "Nobody knows what I'm going through" - or have thoughts telling you - “You are not good enough.” Maybe you've felt lost and hopeless. With over 30 years as an educator, 20 years as a counselor, and over 11 years working exclusively with the Warrior and Protector communities, my holistic approach includes the following: Trauma -informed training.
We all get stuck or feel lost sometimes. It's an inevitable part of being human. But for members of the Military, First Responders, and their families, this can be especially difficult. I don't feel that people are "broken," and I don't feel that people need to be "fixed." Sometimes, we may feel that way, but that doesn't make it true. If you are an Active Military service member, a Veteran, an Emergency Responder, or a family member or caregiver in these communities, then I am here to help, guide, counsel, and to listen without judgment.

I focus on the impact of trauma , and a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, insomnia, personality disorders, eating disorders and chronic pain issues.
We are starving to discover the truth, to show the world who we really are, and we need to have our truth held with compassion. We all want to experience being fully seen. We want to feel connected to others. Sadly, many of us don’t often experience being seen in a non-judgmental light. My strength as a therapist is in my capacity to recognize your preciousness and your capacity for wholeness, while helping you to align with your truth. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups to heal past wounds and evolve out of patterns of self-sabotage.

I offer you guidance on your healing journey that is based on personally understanding, from my own therapy, the challenges associated with healing childhood abuse & trauma .
I offer TWO FREE 1-hour sessions to every new client seeking individual psychotherapy. I believe that finding a good fit with a therapist is essential to creating a successful therapeutic relationship. After the first session it is common for people to experience significant insights & unexpected optimism for the possibility of positive growth. I attribute this to my ongoing involvement & studies at The Boulder Psychotherapy Institute where I learn & practice Applied Existential Psychotherapy. AEP is a powerfully transformative present-centered approach that integrates Gestalt experimentation with Somatic, Sensorimotor, Psychodynamic, Humanistic Psychotherapies as well as Existential Philosophy.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
