In addition, having worked in in-patient treatment for chemical dependency and mood disorders, I decided to teach
parenting
classes and offer
parent
coaching as primary prevention, to help parents raise children to make healthier choices.
I have several passions: 1) I help women struggling with depression and self esteem, especially as they age, to find meaning in their lives. 2) I help parents raise kids who will want to come home for Thanksgiving...and you'll want to see them. 3) I help parents who have made a decision not to work to be full-time stay-at-home parents feel confident and validated in their choice. There is no more important work than successfully raising the next generation. 4) I help seniors dealing with aging issues, depression, and addictions. 5) I help all adults dealing with addictions, depression, and anxiety.

Relationships create the foundation of our lives throughout our entire existence. In fact, our earliest relationships can impact nearly every future interaction we have. If you have questions, concerns, or curiosities about any of your relationships - with your partner, children, extended family, or friends - working with a therapist specially trained in attachment work can change your life. Finding a therapist who really understands you, and what you are going through, is imperative in attachment work. Find someone who will both deeply support you and gently challenge you when you are on the edge of growth.

I know that children and teens have strengths along with concerning risk factors that may need attention. If you or your family members are experiencing difficulty with your relationships because of communication and problem-solving problems, please consider evidence-based individual or episodic family therapy. Research shows lasting results when parents and youth learn ways to enhance one another's relational skill-building together. I specialize in helping clients find ways to work through risks such as substance abuse, aggression, anxiety, mood swings, trauma, loss and grief, and school issues.

You holding onto your
parenting
guilt does not serve your child.
I help children feel more expansion in their emotionality so that they are able to break the cycles of self-doubt and move forward with their innate wisdom and their natural curiosities. In the old-paradigm, we have been faced with imbalances, pressures, restrictions and tensions especially in school. Some children thrive in the current system. Others have a more outside of the box way of learning. By honoring our deepest truths, we prepare for the world we are creating. Kids are looking for their own unique outlets to express their needs. We work together to embody and discover choices that make the most sense for who they are!

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
