I love working with people that are ready to explore change. Everyone gets stuck from time to time. Coming to terms with loss and pain is never easy. Loss can come in the form of actual bereavement or in through accepting difficult events or even a difficult diagnosis, If you would like to try to address your reaction to trauma, loss, or even addictive relationships to substances and activities, I would love to work with you. I have comfort and familiarity in working with bipolar disorder, ADHD , PTSD and anxiety. I hope to work with people who are seeking their highest expression of selfhood and are willing to look inside.

Therapy can be used to address ADHD , oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety, depression, and drug and alcohol issues.
I have been providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, collage age young adults and parents throughout the Boulder & Denver area's since 1995. My counseling style and therapeutic approach are unique and innovative. By using a less traditional style of therapy, I have been able to connect with and help people and families that have not found conventional therapy productive or beneficial or have found traditional therapy to have not met their needs. I use a strength-based, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral therapy approach which is designed to treat issues that arise in our individual lives, personal relationships and families.

Are you a 10- to 24-year-old Autistic, ADD /ADHDer, or Highly Sensitive Person? Does your identity intersect with the LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or EMM/Poly communities? Have you tried talk therapy only to feel misunderstood, judged and more confused? I would love to support your healing journey. I use a nervous system's perspective that can provide relief from suffering faster than traditional talk therapy. You'll learn coping tools and techniques to get out of fight/flight/freeze patterns. I've found this model extremely successful for sensory neurodivergent people, and I hope you'll consider trying it.

We work with a wide range of mental health conditions including ADHD , anxiety, autism, OCD, depression, trauma, PTSD, TBI/Concussions, among others.
In my work at Alpine Neurotherapy, I combine the healing power of a safe and caring therapeutic relationship with qEEG informed neurofeedback technology. I consider qEEg neurofeedback technology to be a game changer in the mental health field for a few key reasons: 1) This technology gives us the ability to obtain objective data points or “biomarkers” in brain functioning which often represent root causes of symptom presentations 2) With this data we create individualized protocols that target the specific ares in the brain that will benefit from targeted neurofeedback training

I enjoy helping people identify blocks to successful behavior or patterns that leave them unhappy or dissatisfied, issues they are often unaware of. I am very excited about using psychological tests for these purposes. I emphasize giving individuals direct feedback about the results, rather than only using them like "lab tests" where a report is sent to the referring therapist. I am also a neuropsychologist so I can provide information on whether brain-based problems like ADHD , learning disorders, or mild brain injury are present. I am also interested in helping identify effects of past trauma.

As a psychotherapist with 28 years of experience, I approach therapy from an empathic relational orientation. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive and other self destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns.

My goal is to create a safe and supportive space for you. Everyone seeks therapy for different reasons; I work with each client individually to identify your own goals. I believe the most critical aspect to therapy is the relationship therapist and client, I work hard to build trust and create a strong, caring connection. I enjoy working with college students, those in transition and seeking supports and who are part of the LGBT community! I am strongly anti-racist in my work and acknowledge how power and privilege impact a persons life.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
