I am certified to treat sex addiction and
trauma
.
I believe mental health is about living in the present, healing the past and identifying and moving towards a whole life. Many of the clients I see are facing a dilemna of some sort; a potential marriage, divorce, re-marriage, change in career, a family member dying, or a current
trauma
, or a past
trauma
that has re-surfaced. I also treat infidelity including pornography usage interfering with intimacy. I have written the book Letters To A Sex Addict: The Journey Through Grief and Betrayal. This book is powerful for anyone experiencing infidelity and is great with raising empathy for someone who has strayed.

For years I have worked with clients who are moving through major life transitions and grief, or working with depression, anxiety, or psychological
trauma
. When we suffer from distress, I believe we are simply "forgetting" our natural wisdom and the fundamental health that lies beneath our outward problems. Underlying my work is a essential belief that our soul is on a journey in this human body, and we are here to learn deep lessons and celebrate the gift of being human - this implies my optimistic view of human psychological distress.

You’re struggling with past painful experiences impacting your current relationships & preventing you from living life on your terms. Past therapists with traditional, rigid & impersonal approaches were not helpful for you; leaving you feeling that nothing will ever help or change. I believe healing is possible & therapy incorporating an understanding of oppressive systems we navigate can provide a space to heal. Challenging internal messaging rooted in
trauma
& systems of oppression can help turn off the auto-pilot or get off the merry-go-round to live a life of meaningful choice, authenticity, connection, belonging & joy.

Hello, I am Chloe. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and inclusive. I work with adults to reduce suffering, enhance life satisfaction, and to foster exploration, growth, and empowerment. I aim to create a warm, genuine, non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe experiencing their emotions, exploring their needs, and developing a life consistent with their goals and core values. And as a highly trained
trauma
expert, my skills as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner allow me to use a nervous-system based approach to helping clients resolve and integrate past traumatic experiences.
Navigating the waters of fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth, and being a new parent can be hard. Navigating the aftermath of past traumas in your body and nervous system can be isolating, exhausting, and soul-crushing. And sometimes those landscapes are one and the same. Past traumas resurface during fertility treatment, pregnancy or postpartum. Or new ones emerge with a traumatic birth or with feeling overwhelmed by parenting. But you’re not alone in this journey. I offer somatic psychotherapy for mothers, families and others who are looking for a whole person approach for resolving life's struggles.

Therapy sucks. It's expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable - who wants to share their dark thoughts and feelings with a stranger? If you are here now, you must be struggling and unsure - but there is a part of you that knows you could use some guidance. It's not weak to seek help, but finding the right person is overwhelming and exhausting, and it's possible that you've landed in the right place. I treat anxiety, depression and
trauma
and do so in a structured, effective way with experience, kindness and humor. I know that change is hard, but finding the right person to walk with you is the first step on this journey.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
