I have worked with a variety of issues and people. I would say the areas where I notice some of my strengths in therapy are related to boundary work, trauma processing,
parenting
, family systems, communication within a couple unit, helping create a more ADHD friendly world, and family rules/culture. I have seen success for clients who arrive with intense emotions in the family unit and process those together as a couple, family, or individual. Another success story I have seen is in helping others process complex trauma. You can contact me directly via gmail at therapywithtrin.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, as online sessions are difficult for young children,
parent
counseling is encouraged instead, as virtual play therapy is cognitively challenging.
I work from a strength and client-based perspective. In addition to working from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approach, I use CBT, EMDR techniques, and encourage clients to use their own spiritual beliefs and values in working with their relationship, wellness and adjustment issues. I value clients who are willing to be genuine and to work towards their own goals in their personal journey and relationships.

As a
parent
of a child who is struggling, it is often hard to figure out how to best support them. You are constantly wondering what can I do to help them feel better? It may feel like you have tried everything, that nothing seems to work and that you are going through this alone. I look forward to the opportunity to support not only your child, but also yourself and your whole family with the struggles that you are experiencing. My approach to therapy involves a humanistic understanding of people, where I view clients as whole, understanding all of the systems they are apart of, rather than just the person who shows up in the room.

My clinical practice has focused on trauma,
parent
-child relationships, attachment,
parenting
, anxiety, and depression.
My passion is working with families and children to help them in creating the best relationship possible. Children often do not have the words to tell us when things are not going well for them, instead, they often show us their feelings through challenging behaviors. I love helping parents understand their child's behavior and helping children find ways to cope when things are tough. I know
parenting
is not always easy. In addition to raising my own children, I have worked with children in a variety of settings including daycare and school. I truly enjoy helping parents and children learn to communicate and connect.

Life is filled with a multitude of experiences in which one is unfortunate to fall backwards than to fall forwards. From that point one determines how their next steps in life will be. Whether struggling with
parenting
strategies, understanding what it means to manage a current/past traumatic experience, or contemplate the question "Why me?" Using a holistic approach supports a person both internally and externally. Mind, body, and soul. Health of the whole-being is wealth, I encourage anyone who seeks therapy to be motivated and ready to work. "Healing is dependent upon the person who seeks it."-Kellie Vazquez

Due to Covid and some personal life changes, I will be offering online sessions only at this time. Being a
parent
is an incredibly overwhelming and rewarding role and in the same breath, sometimes it is not very easy to be kid trying to communicate with your
parent
either. Subscribing to the notion that no one child or family can "fit" into a box, I encourage confidence in individuality and assisting children and families in exploring their shared values and finding a way to use their "differences" as strengths. In family therapy, I strive to increase acceptance, understanding, and enjoyment in the family dynamic.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
