I specialize in working with
couples
at any stage of their
relationship
.
Relationships get stuck in cycles and patterns. They can feel oppressive, bland, limiting or severe. Sometimes the closest relationships are filled with pain and distance. You might be having the same conversation over and over again without any resolution. It’s becoming disappointingly predictable. The bliss of being together is missing, and you’re not sure anymore if you and your
partner
are really there for each other. Everything is feeling dull and challenging, instead of bright and exciting.

I have extensive experience in
couples
therapy.
I have the most success working with clients who are ready to do serious exploration around the problems in living they are experiencing. They do not have to know how they will solve their problems but they are willing to do the intense work that it may require. I am very good at encouraging and supporting folks as they engage in self-exploration. Besides helping folks manage their particular problems in living I also help them take a look at their values and how that matches what they want to get out of life.

Struggling with sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, erection, ejaculation or overall confidence and comfort with sex is common. You are not alone, and overcoming these issues is possible. These struggles can be related to anxiety, discomfort with our bodies or pleasure, or previous negative sexual experiences. We often feel shame or embarrassment when talking about sex, even with our romantic and sexual partners. I offer an authentic, accepting and collaborative space for individuals who are seeking therapy to work through some of these issues.

I strive to build a collaborative
relationship
that recognizes each individual's history and strength.
I firmly believe that as hard as they are, difficult times are here to teach us something about ourselves. Every struggle can be seen as an opportunity to discover that which is holding us back, and the potential we carry inside. Often times, it is difficult to see a way out because pain, fear, and shame have a way of blindfolding us, taking away hope and clear vision. This is where I can help. I bring intelligence, compassion, and a discerning ear to help you illuminate your blind spots and find your way to healing.

I use these styles to help clients address: anxiety, depression, stress,
relationship
issues, low self-esteem, behavioral difficulties, and family communication.
As we all know, life can be hectic, mixed up chaos. That’s okay. The beauty of therapy is having someone by your side to celebrate the highs and encourage you through the lows, someone to listen without judgement or bias, someone to give a fresh perspective. I hope to be that person for you.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
