I have lots of experience working with adults addressing a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression,
trauma
, and relational issues.
Are you confused about why you are feeling the way you are feeling? Do you wish things were different? Are you feeling disconnected from others or yourself? Current neuroscience and research tells us that about 90 to 95 percent of the way we think, feel, and act is unconscious and automatic. In my practice, I help people understand why they are acting, feeling, and thinking they are so they can begin change their internal reality. I partner with my client’s to educate and empower them to understand themselves better so they can begin to live more intentionally and pursue their passions in meaningful ways.

Emotions impact and affect the body causing us to hold them on a physical level. I work with the mind-body connection, utilizing mindfulness techniques, Neurofeedback/EEG Biofeedback, EMDR, breath work, and meditation, viewing the body as a whole to address
trauma
, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. As a somatic therapist, I combine these techniques to help clients become aware of
trauma
stored in the body, and work to resolve the
trauma
and empower the client. I engage the wisdom of the body to heal
trauma
, depression and anxiety, and move through life transitions by unifying the mind-body connection.

Dealing with
trauma
and past hurts, struggling with work, relationships, or addiction, managing depression & anxiety or to better understand one's gender identity or sexuality - it isn't easy to address any of these things. I see therapy as a safe, judgment-free, shame-free, and confidential space, where you are free to vent, confide, cry, discuss, imagine, find strength, and be empowered. Most importantly, therapy is a place for hope to come alive, to learn new coping skills, to achieve personal growth, and to discover you are strong, valuable, and greater than any struggle you might have. Change is possible!

In integrating these perspectives, as well as considering the critical role of the nervous system in mental health and
trauma
, I seek to create a holistic experience for clients.
I believe much of therapy is a journey of coming home to one’s truest self, by both uncovering what has been and cultivating something new. My intention is to ultimately support clients in creating a more connected and deepened relationship with themselves and their lives. Together, we will sit in the space of exploration creating more awareness of the past and present, empowering you with choice for the journey ahead. I approach healing primarily through the following therapeutic models:

I effectively use EMDR for many issues including
trauma
, emotional eating, weight loss, and intense emotions.
We all have times when it might help to have someone to talk with. Having those deep therapeutic conversations can help us make sense of life, break patterns, and to generally improve ourselves and our quality of life. If you've been feeling stressed, down, or overwhelmed, I can help you find your center. I tend to focus on our emotions, thoughts, and beliefs about ourselves. This creates a foundation for our wellbeing. I create a healing, accepting environment with the ultimate goal of helping you become the healthiest, most vibrant version of yourself possible.

Sometimes, you feel so overwhelmed you wish someone else could step in and live life for you for a while. You're juggling too much and you're worried that if things don't change for you soon, you will hit a breaking point and everything will fall apart around you. The coping skills that have worked for you in the past have stopped working, and now you're wondering if they ever worked that well in the first place. You hope therapy can answer your questions and help you cope. If part of this process for you has been wondering if your anxiety is related to
trauma
you've experienced in your past, then you have landed in the right place.

I utilize a
trauma
informed approach mixed in with a strengths based perspective to support you toward achieving your goals either individually, in a relationship, or in your family.
Anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem making you feel like there must be more to life than what you are currently experiencing? Has your relationship with your partner, spouse, or children left you wanting more from these connections? Sometimes the monotony of life gets in the way of us becoming the people we want to be. I believe each individual, couple, and family have particular gifts and qualities that make them unique and I love exploring and harnessing these strengths with you to become the best version of yourself.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
