Therapy is a space to slow down and be honest about what you’ve been through, the pain you’ve carried, and the parts of you still trying to heal. My goal is to create a safe, grounded space where you can feel heard, seen, and supported at your own pace. Together, we’ll gently explore the patterns that shaped you, not with judgment, but with curiosity and compassion. We’ll pay attention not only to your thoughts and emotions, but also to how your body has learned to respond to stress, fear, or overwhelm. Healing isn’t about becoming someone new; it’s about reconnecting with who you are beneath the survival strategies.

Grief, loss and transition are an integral part of our lives and we often need help and support in coping and navigating through the feelings associated with these experiences. When we are thrown in the midst of change it can create anxiety and uncertainty. It also can be a lonely time when we question ourselves and the meaning of life. My goal as a therapist is to provide the care, support, guidance, empathy and skills needed to help work through difficult feelings in order to live a life filled with purpose and greater joy.

For Lacanian psychoanalysis, everything that distinguishes the human is rooted in and composed of language. Speaking renders the speaker, defining and defiling them. Traumatically, subjects of language - speaking beings, as Lacan defined us - are spoken.
Repetitions, inexplicable actions, even physical symptoms have ciphered meanings. As the source of suffering emerges into plain sight, in other words into consciousness, then symptoms speak. Analysts learn to listen to symptoms as partners in the treatment. The meanings of particular symptoms can be deciphered by analysts to the extent that they have themselves been analyzed.

What distinguishes my therapy practice from others is that I provide a different element in addition to conventional psychotherapy, which is an abiding interest in freeing, developing, and refining our capacity for deeper dimensions of freedom and personal completion than conventional psychotherapy typically envisions. As human beings we are generally conditioned by our families, culture, and education system in ways that limit our personal truth and freedom. This leads us to, in small or large degrees, become somebody who we're really not. As a result, we feel diminished in the full expression of who we are and what we can become.

Are you experiencing stress, anxiety or depression as the result of a major life change? Life changes can be exciting: new job, recent marriage, birth of a child. Life changes can also be terrifying: loss of job, divorce, death of a loved one. You may initiate some life changes: planned retirement, move to another city or another country. Other life changes seem to force themselves upon you: a toxic relationship with a loved one that is no longer acceptable, unexpected injury, loved one that has betrayed your trust.

Something isn’t working the way you want it to. Maybe life looks fine on the outside—you’re functioning, showing up, doing what needs to be done. But inside, something feels off. Relationships don’t feel as connected as they could. You might feel stuck, distant, frustrated, or unsure of what you’re even longing for. Maybe you’ve done therapy before, learned the language, and can explain your patterns—but insight alone hasn’t shifted the weight. You’re not falling apart, but you know you’re not fully okay either.

You may feel stuck — repeating the same struggles without fully understanding why. These patterns might show up in your relationships, your work, or how you see yourself. Beneath the surface, you may feel torn between conflicting parts of yourself, weighed down by anxiety or shame. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and found some relief, but not the lasting change you were hoping for. In our work together, I’ll help you understand the deeper patterns and unconscious dynamics that keep you feeling trapped — so you can finally move toward a more grounded, authentic sense of self.

My goal is to make therapy feel less intimidating and more empowering. I believe that therapy should feel like a conversation, not a performance, and that healing happens best when you feel comfortable, supported, and heard. My approach is client-centered and collaborative. That means you set the pace, and we work as a team. I’m here to create a space where you can show up as you are, without pressure or judgment. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you and take steps that feel right for your life. This is your space, and I’m honored to walk alongside you in it.

Hello and welcome! I'm Manda, and I'm so glad you're here. Taking that first step to seek out help can be daunting, but you have done it! And that is no small thing.
Many things in life can keep us from experiencing the health and vitality we desire. These can include current circumstances, past traumas, relationship issues, family dynamics, and any number of other reasons. Sometimes, we experience symptoms we don't understand for reasons we cannot figure out. And while these struggles can be unpleasant (and even sometimes debilitating), they are treatable and you can feel better.

I have a long-standing interest in how our past echoes forward into our present. It is evident how critical early development is in terms of our moods, relationships, and distinctive personalities. I have developed tools for working with people to untangle the past from present so that there is more room for transformation in the future.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
